Hey guys.My name is Mark Rose.I live in Nova Scotia.I am converting a 1991 International Bookmobile to a camper.I recently purchased a Southwind 939J24 off ebay.(actually hasn't arrived yet) The unit comes complete with control box/wiring etc.It pretty much looks like a new unit.
I'm looking for any information about these heaters. Are these units multifuel or just diesel?
Are there any serious safety issues with this unit?
Also looking to find a quality built reasonably priced 24V battery charger. My bus is a 12V system so I will need to set up a pair of batteries separate of the bus system. Would like something that would charge 10 to 15 amps.Any suggestions?
          Many thanks in advance.....Mark

That is an ex military heater. I think you may be able to find the TM's for it on the Tpub website.

From what I hear there are 3 manuals that you'll need so you may need to do some hard research to find them.
By the way, to help you with a little more information, Southwind is a subsidiary of Stewart Warner and they probably mention it on their website.
I have a SW-Southwind "Hotbox" coolant heater that I've been looking for a manual for for 4 years and have had no luck.
Southwind heaters were very popular back in the 1930's to heat cars and trucks that had marginal heating systems. They are also used in small aircraft. The problem is that most of these heaters were made for gasoline and finding information on them from the mfg is nearly impossible.

Sorry I couldn't help more.

Thanks Dallas.  I also have a Hotbox heater.I thought at first that is was diesel fired.Whoops...
This 939 was listed as a diesel fired coolant heater.I should be safe...
Do you need any parts or anything for your hotbox? This one hasn't been going for years and I'm not sure what would be good but it has no use for me.
                  Thanks again...Mark
