Sounds odd, but here's the deal.

My daughter's prom is coming up. In the infinite wisdom of the school district, the dance is 45 miles away! We're not at all thrilled about the idea of her driving there and back at night, and even less thrilled about her riding with someone else. Several families are banding together
and looking for an alternative, since all the kids are going as friends, not as dates. We're looking at limos and party buses, but prices are very
expensive, and I'm not real thrilled about the info I see on the web for the one's they've found.

So my thought is that if I could find a seated bus or executive coach that I could borrow or rent, or maybe hire the owner for the evening,
maybe it would be a better solution. I'd be more comfortable with a driver I know and know has experience driving a big vehicle full of kids.
We need to be able to take about 15 kids and it would be about 6 hours total time.

Any thoughts?

Charter a school bus or a motorcoach?

Never mind the limo/partybus side of the market. Unless there is evidence to the contrary, a bad reputation for over priced, under insured and way non-compliant with hours of service.

happy coaching!

Have you checked with JD? He's got some coaches in his for sale inventory. Also his brother Matt might have something in his converted coach for sale inventory?

Hi Craig,

One has to look at One Self...  You have a bus! I'm sure you would have a liability risk but, maybe you could ask your insurance co. about the exposure first.

Back in August, I took 10 of my sisters friends to a Toby Keith Concert in my bus that was about 70 miles away. I told everyone not to open any alcohol beverages

until we arrived at the venue. I was afraid of the license aspect of the bus if I were pulled over or had an accident.

Good Luck

Nick - please forgive my naivete, but why wouldn't regular old RV insurance be OK?  The passengers are not hiring him, no alcohol would be consumed.  It would be the same as piling a group into a 16 passenger van.  No criticism here - I'd just like to know.

Thanks!

Tenor...because IF there is an accident...there will be scuzzy lawyers out there that will go to the other kids parents and convince them to hire him/her because he can get them a ton of money.  It will not matter that laws were broken or not as it pertains to insurance...the insurance company would in all likleyhood pay out money anyway!

Craig,

What is the date? I can't hold that many but I could take 11 plus me. If I can I will help.

Is it ever gonna get warm enough for me to paint the upper engine compartment?

I got eveything painted and ready to go. Thanks for coming with to faribault.

Rick,

The dance is May 2. It's in St. Cloud. They have to get from Buffalo to there and back.
I'll check on the total number of kids and let you know.

I sent you an email.

Nick,
My coach is just not set up to carry that many people and really not good way to do it.  And my wife didn't think much of my suggestion that we remove the bed and stick a bunch of lawn chairs back there.

I wish I had put more thought into my interior. I would have made modules that could be removed easily and replaced with other modules. The bunks could be removed, and replaced with a couch or office module. The bed could be removed and replaced with couches. Etc.  Maybe on the next one.

Damn...  That is a good idea.  Back to the drawing board....
