I would like the opinions of the Ladies who share space with their significant other in their coach!

The following are examples that you can use, please add to them.

What do you like or dislike?

What is your favorite space?

Your favorite method of organizing?

Any other topics not listed, don't leave anything out!

Guys are not allowed to post their opinions please!

Get your Lady involved with the answers, no coaching either! ;D

From a guy who wants to know! I promise to share this with my wife!

I like being close to Dallas all the time (well, almost all the time).  I do like having small spaces so I don't have to transport lots of "things" all the time.  I don't like not being able to keep photos out all the time of the grandkids.  This is partly because of limited space, partly because of our cats and partly because they have to be moved each time we travel.  I don't like having to make an effort to put everything in it's place each time I use something but I also want things where they belong.

My favorite space is my chair with my computer handy.  I also like having a place to put books since I love to read.

Since we full time it is hard to organize somewhat.  We travel with all D's diesel tools, extra parts, carpentry tools, everything we own, 3 cats, 2 computers and the two of us so it gets crowded.  D doesn't like to throw things away because he might need it and as soon as something gets tossed we find he needs it.

I'm sure there are more likes and dislikes I will think of later on but at least I have given you a few ideas.

I like a full window in the kitchen area. I also like a bar that comes out like an L from the wall so that I can work at the sink or chopping on the counter and see and converse easily with my family sitting in the galley area. I like having an under the counter little garbage collecter where there is a hole in the counter top and as I chop veggies or whatever I can just shove trimmings into the garbage with my knife (of course it also needs a cover so for when not in use). I like a toilet that faces the hall way door so that there is plenty of room in an emergency to drop my pants and sit without having to wiggle in a smaller area between the sink and toilet. I like lots of windows thru out the coach, but of course good privacy and thermal effiency at night via heavy blinds or something else. I also like flooring rather then carpeting (it is a lot easier to clean then having to bring out a vaccum or even a carpet sweeper). This is all stuff I want to do with the coach I am dreaming of building.

I want a choice of places to sit.  A sofa to nap on, my own recliner, and a table for my computer and card games.  I want Lots of big windows.  I want it to look like a house inside. A good pull out pantry.

I don't want to see all of those "nifty control panels".  I don't want to see the toaster, coffee maker, or the microwave when they aren't in use. I also don't want any part of the bathroom in the bedroom.

Paul, libby asked me to respond, she tryed but typing isn't working for her very well, one of her pet peeves is putting stuff away when we hit the road, (I'm working on that little by little lol) putting the coffee pot in the sink and the toaster in the sink, the tv under the table (normaly it sits on the dash, it'll be mounted above the windshield soon).  As we progress with the project more problem areas are being worked out but it's a long process.

Thanks Cody, Always good to hear from you and Libby! Her typing skills are not needed for now, when she is better she can fill us all in on how well you have taken care of her!

Paul,

I'm sorry this is so late in commenting on your ladies only post, but we have not been on the computer in a long time.

When we first got our coach we talked about how we wanted it and what I would like,  I asked for a big bedroom, which he gave me, it has enough room to walk around the bed and enough room to make the bed with 1" between the mattress and the cabinets, a hydraulic lift bed with storage underneath. Another request was a big bathroom, which he made also, with enough room to move on the toilet without hitting any walls or cabinets.
We also have a washer-dryer in the bathroom and he built a pull out shelf for my laundry basket, the closets are on one wall of the bathroom with a large utility closet.  My kitchen is just the right size, it has a nice pantry, plenty of cabinets and a cabinet for the garbage can, so it doesn't fall all over when you drive. He also made the cabinets and counter tops to my height, since I'm not very tall.
I think my favorite spot is my passenger chair,  it's all automatic, I can recline when we're watching TV or driving.  It moves backwards and forwards to adjust to any position.  Pete really thought of me when he built this coach.

Traveling is very comfortable in the bus, the way it's laid out and designed.
The name of the bus says it all, (Fantasy), it's been our fantasy to have it.

Thanks Jean, I read your comment to Becky and she agrees! I appreciate you and the other Ladies who posted, and taking the time to respond.

The only thing that I did wrong was make the Queen bed to one side, with a lift up platform for storage. I designed it this way before I met Becky, for easy access to the engine. We have discussed many times that someday I'll center the bed to make it easier to get in and out of and for making it up. I do make the bed on occasion and I was not thinking of that at the time, engine access was a priority, or so I thought! ;D

So far I'm doing pretty good with making her happy on what she likes, I just need to finish the kitchen upper cabinets and the front cabinets over the driver and co-pilot. She has been a good inspiration with great ideas!

We're having fun now!

This is C of M&C. Since we're still building our bus, I won't know what I really like and dislike until we're in there, but since we've lived in an RV before we're designing the bus to fit our needs. We've basically designed our bus around our king size bed, full size reclining couch and full size fridge. For me a big bathroom is not a big deal, although I think we may have made the toilet/vanity area a little small. Time will tell on that one. We put in a 3'x3' tile shower which I like. I'm settling with a 2 burner stove top and using an electric griddle and electric skillet when needed. I have a convection/microwave in the house that we'll be putting in the rig. I hated my miniature sink in our old motor home, so we got a full-size sink at a huge discount. I think I will love having our TV and our little drop leaf table. The living room/kitchen area is most important to me, as that is where we will spend most of our time. We're putting in laminate flooring. It's so easy to care for and carpet looks like crap very quickly. I would love to answer this again after a couple of months full time ;D

Hi Christi,

We also went with a two burner propane cooktop, an electric hot plate and convection/microwave. Seems to work for us! The most important part I've discovered since full timing is my wife having the ability to watch the local ABC channel, so she bought a Winegard Sensar Batwing with Wingman. The picture is unbelievable on our 32" VIZIO! It seems we watch it more than our Directv satellite channels.

The other feature she wanted was a comfortable living room seating, as she spends most of her day on her laptop working. We went with two glider/rockers and we love it! We didn't want the RV look and sold the two captains chairs and sofa bed.

We installed carpet in the living room, we'll see how we like it. I really wanted laminate flooring, but she wanted the warmth on her feet in the morning. We do have floating tile in the kitchen and bath which we love.

Let us know how it all works out once you guys get on the road!

Ok, here's my few cents worth: ;)

I love the pull-out pantry for lots of storage for canned/boxed/plastic-containered food.

I want a loveseat that faces the tv instead of sideways, so that Larry and I can relax, side by side, together on the same chair.

A leveling systems so when we're parked, we're sitting level for cooking, sleeping, etc.

The centered bed is a must, and the storage underneath it is great for bulky items you seldom use.

A good place to put dirty clothes. . . built-in hamper, chute into the bay. . .don't care, just  something accessible to drop  into and remove out of.

I HAVE to have a table/desk in front of me when traveling, for my laptop, kindle, phones, etc, anything I need within reach.

A variable table, which allows you to extend it as far as you need, depending on your needs, but can be retracted when not needed.

A variety of task lighting, so that you're not in the dark when searching through a drawer, closet, or reading a book 8)

And this is silly, but since we travel with Dallas, (our cat, not big D), I love that we have a place under the kitchen sink, accessible through a small door most of the time, for his kitty litter.  This hides it, he can get in and do his thing, and then when I need to change it, I can open the big doors, move the cleaning supplies, and pull it right out.  Since he is very verbal, he lets us know if someone accidently shuts his door, so it's a win-win for all of us.   ;D

Hope this helps, Christy Hicks
