cannot retrieve the error codes DDEC-1 ECM

I find the DDDL software to be about the same cost as Prolink and it does not walk off $700.00 is what I paid from our local dealer in San Antiono for the shop.If you have a Cummins I pay $151.00 for the laptop software and the Prolink hand held is $700.00

I also have a DDEC - 1 yet when I plug in my code reader it says I have a DDEC - 2    The reader can read either.  Any ideas would be helpful!

The DDEC 1 is a 2 box system the only thing that will read one right is the old Kent/Moore reader and not many are around and not many were ever manufactured

I do too and it is pretty worthless on the DDEC 1 .I use a OBD reader and translate the PID codes when all else fails on the DDEC 1
