What would be a replacement for the sony monitor for my back-up camera without replaceing  the camera and running new wires????

Jeremy

Every camera I've seen has produced a standard TV-signal type output - in Europe it's PAL but in the US I expect it will be NTSC. If your existing camera and monitor both came from Sony as a combined package it's possible that they work on some proprietary signal standard - but it's pretty unlikely I think. A generic replacement screen should work fine - just check that it's got a PAL/NTSC input in addition to the VGA (computer monitor) input. And look to see that the plugs and sockets match.

Not all backup monitors have standard connections.  My LCD backup monitor has a non-standard connector for the cable to the camera.  The monitor also supplies the power to the camera.

I would check with www.rvcams.com to see if they have a replacement for you.

Sony cameras use RCA video cables easy to hook up to a TV the higher end RV's have been doing it since the 90's some have a switch on the dash for TV or monitor pretty sure any camera could be hooked to a TV with the right switch I've seen the Voyager camera hooked to a TV before

good luck

I've had good luck with RV Cams and I have read plenty of good reviews.  Personally, I would call RV Cams to see if there is an LCD replacement instead of installing another CRT.

Yes, I'd be looking to upgrade to a LCD monitor too, especially if they're charging that much for an old-fashioned black-and-white CRT monitor. US Ebay is full of suitable colour LCD screens for less than $100 delivered. (And for another $20 you could change the camera too, then you'd know they'd be compatible. You could keep the existing wiring but might need to change the connectors).
