Hi all,
OK, I need a list of the parts and pieces to put together a 4-down tow system for a 2000 ford Excursion 4x4.
I will be going the driveshaft disconnect route as it seems to be the easiest to operate.
I need to learn about the braking boxes that sit in the vehicle. Do they need bus power or are they reliant only on the toad for power?
i will probably be using magnetic lites with 24v replacement bulbs in them.
any help appreciated.

Devin,

I thought the Excursion was able to be towed without driveshaft removal in the 4x4 model??

Nick,
The demco site has the specs for a disconnect to be required.
i think this is due to the electronic shift on the dash, which has no neutral for the transfer case.
i would rather not buy the disconnect, is anyone else towing a 4x4 with shift on the dash?
it is an Automatic, V-10, 4x4.

Devin,

Only the GMC's and Chevy full sized SUV's are towable without all that extra work.

My GMC Yukon has a push button with nutral... My Jeep is also the same.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body. But rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, a good Reisling in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming:  WOO HOO, what a ride
