Need to know how many rpm you can turn and what size rubber you have. Thats a fast gear. If you have decent rpm you should go close to 100 on big tires.

At 2100 rpm and 11r 24.5 about 79mph depending on the tire, 75 mph with 11r 22.5 depending on the tire also  good luck

The previous post assumes your N14 is governed at 2100.  Some of the recent engines are set at 1800.  The computer can be reprogrammed.  The big issue is fuel mileage and engine life.  Our usage is pretty low, but the new four strokes are not happy running at max rpm all of the time.  They do the best at about 1300 to 1500 both in terms of fuel and torque.

With 11 24.5 my max speed with 2100 rpm was about 72 with the 6V92 (3.73).  That would suggest you could do a bit more than 80 MPH.

The best answer is to drive your bus and see what it will run say 1800 RPM (would guess you can't get the full 2100 in top gear) and do the math.  If you are cruising at 65 at 1800 for example, simply multiply 65 times 2100 divided by 1800 to get your max speed.

The gearing for the new combination will be the same as your present combination.

The N14 is a 2100 rpm engine from the factory with 3:33 gears,  a 740 and 12R22.55 depending on the manufacture you are going to be in 78 to 82 mph range        have a great evening

I know the 6V92TA /740 /3.33 set up we have in an '86 102A3 will run 80/85 mph! Also my uncle Robert had an '85 102A3 with 6V92TA /5spd /3.33 that ran 85/90 mph. He also had an '85 96A3 6V92TA /740 /3.33 that ran 90/95 mph!  (oh yeah all the above were on 315/80/22.5 tires too!

So it'll be plenty fast enough to get ya in trouble ANYWHERE! LOL! But ought to be just about right at the sweet spot for 70/75 mph!

That's easy.  With 11R X 24.5 tires, 66 mph @ 1800 rpm, 77 mph @ 2100 rpm and 88 mph @ 2400 rpm.  Pittsburg Fuel Injection Inc. will provide a N14 of your dreams.  How fast do you want to go?  How $deep$ is your wallet?

This happens to be the moter I want. It won't take much more fuel than a L-10 because It won't be worked as hard.

At first I was calculating to myself (dangerous!) about how big the radiators would have to be, but then you hit the nail on the head...you would hardly ever be working that engine.

You probably already know this, but go to www.pittsburgfuelinjection.net or do a google search.  How about a "street" 800 hp N14?  He he he, sounds good to me.

Flight102, Not saying its a bad idea. I had a truck I parted out a couple years ago with a N14. When you stepped on the pedal it was awesome with a good sound. But it was BIG and HEAVY.  Goodluck  Tom Y

The N14 is going to be a big and tall engine to fit in.  Granted you can crank alot of power out of it, but the M11/ISM would be much easier. You can get 500hp and 1550lb/ft torque out of the ISM.

12R22.5 is 485 rpm.  So with 3.33 you'll be at 1615rpm @ 60, 1750 @ 65, 1884 @ 70, 2018 @ 75.  With the N14's power, I would go with the biggest gears that you could get-like 2.65.  Then you'll have 1285 @ 60, 1392 @ 65, 1500 @ 70, 1600 @ 75, 1713 @ 80, etc.  Good Luck, TomC
