Seriously tho, anything less than core price would be a deal!
Over core price & you're rolling the dice . . .

Ace,
We paid about $250 for a rebuilt several years ago.  I think JJR recently paid about the same to have his repaired.  Jack

Yep $285 for a rebuild includng tax. You might be better off getting the one you have rebuilt, but I'm sure you know that.  Let me guess, you want to carry a spare?

I just had mine rebuilt for my 8v71 and it cost about $150.

So I would say $100 is a good price.

Ace; look at the top of the tag above those #s and it should have 50MT, 42MT or 37MT if it is a 50MT give him the 100 bucks and smile  have a great day

Blacksheep

It ships out Today and should have it in my hand soon! The picture I have shows the plate but the top numbers are blurred.

Here are pics of the starter.

Ace....I could be wrong, but I never seen this style of starter (gear-reduction) for 8v 71 or 92 series. Make sure your is what you have...compare to this link: http://www.newindo.com/delcoremy/42mt-delcoremy-startermotor.htm  Or it could be 50MT version...it listed on the page on the left.

Hope it will be OK.

Jerry, thanks! I'm not sure but for a 100.00 bucks I can always sell it.

I saw it on Ebay and figured what the heck. If it fits, it will be a good spare! If not, turn it loose!

Here is what the auction said...

Mitsubishi Starter Prevost # 510752. Good used starter removed as part of schelduled maintenance.Starters removed every 2 years. This starter was on a S60 Detroit but are also used on 6V and 8V 92 Detroit and C13 Caterpillar engines within fleet. This is a good used operational starter that is now standard equipment on Prevost coaches. It replaces MT40,MT42,and MT50 starters in the fleet. It is a lightweight starter weighing around 28 lbs.Bolt it on or use for spare. Please ask all questions before bidding.Thanks.

Sojourner

Thanks for quick reply.
That I could be wrong thinking because newer gear reduction ones is better for cold starting and easier on batteries as well cables. Because it take less current and it the state of art.

This new on me and learning. If it works, let us know and Thanks.

Take Care!

Jerry I won't really know until it gets here and I will know for sure then!

As for the KETTLE CORN (not popcorn), we have only been to limited shows during the summer months due to a few things. One was looking after my Dad and two it was very HOT! Now that my Dad is gone and the weather has cooled down, we DO have a few good shows booked for the coming months and we actually got 4 calls within the last 2 weeks to do some shows but 2 of those were too far for us to go and the other 2 we booked. They won't be until Nov and 1 in Jan. We have 2 booked for this month and another just before Turkey day! If I pressed the issue, I could build it back up pretty quick, almost to where I could quit my full time job but the economy has a crunch on the turnout at the shows so we shall pick and choose where we go!
If I see you in Arcadia, I will be sure to bring some with me just for you!  ;)

makemineatwostroke

that is a good starter for a spare but removing a starter every 2 years for schelduled maintenance would throw a red flag up for me one thing he said was true that is a factory starter for Prevost and anything else with D13 Volvo engine and other truck manufactures are using it also it won't last as long as the 42Mt in yor coach now,for a 100 bucks not bad   have a great day

Ace

That might be true but a spare is a spare and I usually head towards home on Sunday when nothing is open! This would at least get me home or to the next place where it CAN be fixed WITHOUT a tow bill!
