Random and Scattered pics of our stay at Ft Wilderness!

Didn't get any of any coaches! None there, except those that I was with! Oh there was one other Prevost but it was so god awful ugly, I didn't waste my time!

Ace,

Where's the pool in the last photo located?  We're heading to Ft. Wilderness next week; I don't remember that from our last visit.

Hi Sean,

That is the pool at the Wilderness Lodge Hotel that is next to the Wilderness Campground. Same area, different resort.

I have stayed there 4-5 times in the past. The lobby has a Awe factor...all pacific northwest logs that are bigger then life!

There is a fountain in the lobby that spills into a stream, then to a waterfall, then into the pool, [the pics you saw] then

into an area that has a guiser that blows off every 45min's, then into the lake.

IOTW, not open to us while staying at Ft. Wilderness.  Too bad!

Sean,

While staying at any Disney resort, you can travel from resort to resort, pool to pool, and from restraunt to restraunt at your wish!

That also goes for other facility's too, except actual hotel rooms. Nobody will question you. If driving to another resort by car, simply

tell the guards at the gates that you are dining there and in you go.  Back in feb, we ate breakfast at the Contempary, [with Momosa's]

lunch at the Wilderness Lodge, went swimming there after, then had dinner at the Floridian Hotel, and after we used the spa and pool there too.

Have Fun

Nick,

The official Disney resort rules explicitly forbid "pool hopping" -- you can only use the pools at whichever resort you are staying in.  That means only the two Fort Wilderness pools are open to campers, officially.

It's good to know that they are, apparently, not enforcing this.

Nick thanks for answering as I was out of town. Hard to answer from a blackberry!

Sean, Your right! Although we didn't get but limited time for the pool, we didn't use the one in the pic! It was merely to show how the ducks share the pool with the guest! YES they do their business in the pool too! The pool we DID use was in Ft. Wilderness Park. It was the smaller of the two and very crowded! The larger one was WAY crowded and had its own life guard or two!

As for hopping or borrowing the other resorts pools? I was told by another guest that there have been occasions that people have been checked and when caught, they were asked to pack and leave! Remember it was Nick that tried to get me to take my golf cart on the horse trail which plainly said on a sign NO CARTS but we tried anyway until were caught! LOL Hey it was dark and we were looking for some wildlife! Its not like were being distructive or anything but rules are rules I guess!

When will you be there and will you be taking your bus? Do you already have reservations and what loop will you be in? If so, be careful of the pine trees, they're everywhere!

Ace,

We were there nearly four years ago (http://ourodyssey.blogspot.com/2005/01/were-at-disney-world-were-parked-in.html), so we are familiar with the place.

We have no reservations, so we will just be a drive-in.  That's if we go at all -- we're having second thoughts.  It's been in the mid-90's here in Orlando, with RH well into the upper 70s and beyond.  Not exactly comfortable weather for wandering around Disney World.  Right now we're parked behind a building in an industrial complex, with enough power to run an air conditioner, and we are a short city bus ride away from Wet & Wild, so we may just head over there tomorrow instead.  That being said, the forecast shows the highs dropping to 88 Wednesday and Thursday, and all the way to 85 Friday, so we may head over to Disney towards the end of the week, if we don't get redeployed first.

And, yes, of course we'd take the bus!
