water system question

is there any way I can test the water system in my bus with out using water?

Can I use air presure if I don't get over 20 lbs in the system.

I am not sure what I am going to find and I don't want to have 15 gallons of water all over the place before I can get the pump shut off.

Sure, water systems are pressure tested all the time.  Put a gauge and a Schrader valve somewhere and run it up to 15 psi or so.  It should hold for 24 hours.  If it leaks you may be able to hear it or use soap to find the leaks.

I would use a little more pressure just to be sure but that is how we check gas lines all the time

I found a faucet today that was set on the curb where they were r
e-remodeling a house that was just remodeled this last Feb.  The new owners did not like the bathroom and they pulled it all out and set it on the curb.  And the kitchen sink and faucet too.  I think it is one of the nice ones.

OK I am cheap but if it work I might have a chance to have water in the bus.

I use air to winterize the plumbing.  I took an old washingmachine hose, put an air chuck on the end and attach it to my city water hook up.  You could do the same thing to air pressure test it.  I'd go at least to 50psi - most city water pressures are 40psi - but that can vary!  Otherwise why would they sell pressure regulators?

Hi Bob,

When I finished my water system, It held 100psi for 24hrs. That is PEX with brass fittings. Yours may vary!

Luckely, there were no leaks but, you can easly use soapy water to test.

Plumbing code here in N.J. requires 60psi / 24hrs for water pipes and 12psi / 24hrs for gas pipe.
