To let you know, this outfit charges you outrageous fee for a reservation and unreliable.
My finger slipped and made a mistake by pushing a wrong key.
I hope you don't make the same mistake.

That is an issue inherent with online reservations, it is highly dependent on our own accuracy.  Was that an error that you discovered immediately, or one that wasn't discovered until you arrived at the park?  If you discovered it immediately and their customer service dept. wouldn't make it right, that is poor service on their part.  On the other hand, if you didn't discover the error until you arrived, depending on their occupancy at the time, there may not have been much that could physically be done about it and I wouldn't really call that their fault.

Either way, from what I've read, most govt parks are switching over to using them instead of their own reservation systems.  So if somebody wants reservations at a govt park, they don't have much choice in the matter.

Lesson to be learned, always print out the reservation confirmation and check it carefully.  Then take it with you.  When making reservations by phone, always make sure they read it back to you and listen to it very carefully.  If there is any doubt, ask them to repeat it.  Then make sure to write down the confirmation number, date/time reservation was made and the clerks name.

AJ,

Sorry to hear about your problem with RA.

I have been using them for years and really like the service.

My experience has been they have a fee for a cancellation and will credit you the balance for a future reservation.

If they didn't charge a cancellation fee, there would be some who would book up all the good spots, parks places and times wether they really had plans or not and lock out the majority.

They have also allowed me to change a plan at NO charge, the Agent saw how many times we have used them and gave it to us as a courtesy.

I actually had the opposite happen.  Something in my profile was wrong so I did not recieve a discount.  I was going to take care of it when I arrivved at the park. In the meantime I called to change my reservation and mentioned it to the lady on the phone.  It took her and a supervisior 45 minutes to change my profile. They also issued a refund for the overcharge!!  Jim

Well I have absolutely no idea about RA as I've never dealt with them. But in our business we deal with "brokers" all the time. Not that we like dealing with them, but hey they book a lot of trips with us, and they have the "clients" who are willing to pay their prices (sometimes as much as 59% mark up).
So anytime you are dealing with a "booking service" they are going to make their $  somewhere. Wether it is off you, the providing party, or both! After all they have to make phone calls and/or emails, and do advertising in order to draw your attn/biz. Where on the other hand the owner of the resort has property payments, taxes, insurance, up keep & maintenance, staff payroll, and utilities to pay. I mean shouldn't the broker be entitled to a commission of say 59% for a few mins of his time?  :-\  BK   :-\

OK I'm off my soap box now! LOL
