Jack,

I was going to say come get mine or I could mail it to you, But at that price it would cost you more to borrow it considering fuel or postage.....Go figure!  ::)

Its still here if you want it though!

Hi Jack,
I got mine on eBay for about 12 bucks.

Now its 14 bucks, go figure.
HTH,

I have not tried that style, but a couple people that I have talked to said they had a problem keeping the tip lined up with the handle.  Any "real world" feedback from those that have BTDT?

Thanks Cliff,
I have the one in my photo (borrowed from a fellow busnut in NC). I just want to get one of my own. I would like to find one identical to this one, if possible.  Jack

Jack,

That looks like a KD brand tool?

If it is, you can probably get your friendly Napa or Truck Pro or Fleet Pride dealer to order one for you.

I'm not certain, but I think KD was bought out a while back, possibly by the same company that handles the "HELP" line of tools and parts.

I dunno if that helps but it may be an option.

Jack,

I had no problem whatsoever installing the lock strip. It went much better than I had hoped. I was thinking all kinds of nasty things at the start.  ;) It just has four differant sizes. The chosen size stayed in place. I'd be glad to loan you mine but you live soooo far away! ;D

Maybe others had a difficult time, not me. (At least on this one occasion anyway)  ;D

Other times I have not been so lucky. :'(

Thanks Paul,
As I said, I have this one to use, and finished the job on a friend's bus yesterday.  Perhaps the problems I heard about with the multi-tip model was operator error?  LOL.  Jack

I got one from my local parts store, it was a common brand but don't remember it offhand.

It doesn't look as if it will really do the job but it does so very well.

Keep it slick and push back on the lock strip every few inches. It is surprising how much it will push back even when making a special effort to prevent stretching.

I then pushed in and Iocked the end against the beginning end for about an inch so that the section next to the end was humped up like an inch worm. I then very slowly pushed the hump down until it was fully locked into the groove and the two ends were very tightly pushed together. This took a while but resulted in a very tight fit.

I did this in March and have driven over 10,000 miles since with no sign of any gasket shrinking.
