I heard from a fairly well plugged in person today that MCI might be heading for some problems, again.  He said that he knew of several large MCI fleet operators hoarding MCI specific consumables and frequently damaged parts, buying them from MCI at an unusual pace, almost as if they knew something was about to happen.

Just curious, anyone else out there heard anything specific?

Todd,
I have a search thingy on my email that searches and sends anything that pops up about buses, motorcoaches, Motor Coaches, or charter bus to my email daily. Much of what I get is useless junk, or even wrong stuff, but recently I got one showing where MCI's credit rating had dropped, and they were unable to secure financing for an expansion project. Shortly after that it came up with info of MCI having a huge lay off. I don't know any more details or even if any of it has proof to support the claims, but you asked and I passed on the tidbits that I knew of that may or may not have something to do with what ya asked. FWIW ;D  BK  ;D

Pembina, N.D. (AP) A spokeswoman for Motor Coach Industries says the company's bus plant in Pembina has notified 40 workers they will be laid off July 18.

Spokesman Patricia Plodzeen says the layoffs, which will leave Pembina's largest employer with a work force of 208, are due to an adjustment in the number of buses produced there.

The plant's work force has fluctuated from a high of some 800 to fewer than 100 in early 2004. Plodzeen says the business is cyclical.

Motor Coach Industries Ltd. is based in Schamburg, Ill.

MCI's main bus plant is in Winnipeg. The Pembina assembly plant is 60 miles away, in northeastern North Dakota, to satisfy conditions of the federal Buy America Act, which requires buses involved in federal contracts be produced in the United States.
