Thanks to anyone that help.
Having search for GPS unit that display (easy to read or large numbers) mpg and speed.
Someone has the Garmin unit that I like but unable to find model number.
Maybe they all GPS Garmin is equips with mpg? ? ?

There are some that are too hard to read for old timer like me....eyes are not what it use to be.

Thanks, Jerry

Jerry, I know nothing about GPS.  But your 8 at 43 feet does it still have the 8/71? Where did you add the 3 feet?  Thanks Tom Y

I find the screen helpful, but I find the Voice feature very beneficial. It really helps. You should not watch the screen while driving anyway. ::)

My personal opinion is Garmin is the best portable unit out there. Can't give you a model number though, sorry. I only use them when I have to rent a car. Now I won't have to as I have a BlackBerry with GPS, I love it!

I have a Cobra for the bus that is two years old, not the best out there in my opinion.

Not sure if I have seen one that shows MPG, only MPH as far as I can remember.

There is no GPS I know of that will give MPG. To do this it needs some kind of connection to fuel pressure or fuel flow.

I also know of no heads-up display except in airplanes. You are getting into the really big bucks with this display.

Not sure whether a Heads Up Display would be leagal. I think it could be rather distracting when driving in traffic. When used in an airplane, you do not have to watch traffic signs, intersections, or planes making lane changes.  Jack

Hi Guy's,

My Pioneer AVIC-N4 Nav unit can display MPH, G-Force, Engine temp, oil psi, PRM, and MPG if connected to an automotive ECM.

Unfortunatly, our busses don't have automotive type ECM's so that's out the window...

I don't know of any others..

I have seen a GPS speedometer with a heads up display, but not a full GPS unit.  That, of course, does not mean that it does not exist.

In order for a MPG computer to work in our typical old Detroits, it would require a fuel flow meter in the supply line and another in the return set up to subtract from the first.  Not impossible, but I doubt anyone is going to build one for us.

I think the modern electronic engines may already have that capability.

Check for a marine item for the fuel flow. Many of the engines (diesel) have both
flow sensors to calculate GPH and can be tied to a MPH/MPG display.
It's a trick but they do exist.

I will look for the gadget that TOP GEAR used on the Veyron run. It was a Calculating
GPS with inputs for fuel flow and MPG....

I apparently lost my link.. I will se if the old brain can figure out how I got the link
the first time....
