Over the years I /we have worried about the old electrical systems. plumbing and systems on buses being collected or converted. Many of us still worry over that kind of stuff whether it be on a newer or older bus.

In some ways it never ocurred to me that our fragile human bodies are just a cranky and sometimes as troublesome as our hobbies.

I have had a large setback which wasn't supposed to become a setback at all. It was supposed to be a repair job to avoid a bigger problem.

Here is it....Had a bad go of things with my little hospital/surgery situation...

Went in to have a repair done on a leaky
colon ( fistula ). Supposed only to take 6 days.

They did the surgery on April 28th. No Problems.
By May 4th I sprung a leak and went septic then
my Pacemaker/ICD went nuts due to the shock to
my system caused by the infection. It actually did it's job
even if it was unexpected and rather rude.
So they partially opened me back up and am letting the
bad stuff drain out. They hooked up a colostomy bag
and I have that and a catheter to deal with.

I will be out of commission for at least 6 to 8 months
at this point. So much for getting stuff repaired...

I can't drive or hardly compose sentences that make any sense probably
due to the amounts of morphines and other chemicals they pumped into me.

So here I sit with a nand sized hole in my stomach while waiting for new tissue to grow it all back together. The doctor says 6 months to heal but I will have a hernia the size of a football across my stomach.

I had wanted to have people come by for mini rallies or to rent spots to stay a while and I even got the electric plugs installed and working. I just didn't get the RV dump lines installed and ran out of time and money. Now even my ability to get anything physically done is gone.

I have 12 spaces, Some water, Lot's of Hay/Grass almost 3 feet tall. Wifi Internet.
Bring Yer Horse and hang out for the summer and keep me company. I am trapped here in Paradise.

I hope you heal quickly Dave!

If I can get away from Colorado, I'll try to come squat rent a space at the usual rate for a while, and lend a hand. (No heavy lifting)

That sux.  Its kind of a long haul from Nipawin even with the offer of free parking.  That was an offer of free parking - right?   ::)

Maybe later this summer/fall - I'd have to look at a map to see if Tennessee is between here and Arcadia.  Actually I think it is but probably not if we want to go through Boston & DC.  Keep your chin up.

The last thing I would ever want to do is hurt you.
Its the last thing but its still on the list.

Dave, I count you as a friend I haven't met in person yet... I knew Cat and I should have come up to Cincinnati via Nashville, but the lame excuse is that we wanted to hurry and get this job done. The job still isn't done, and e have a lot of other work to do besides.

Hopefully, this fall we can get away and give you a month or two of rest relaxation and good memories.

In the mean time, just sit back and get better. Don't over do.

The golden years are tarnished.  Sorry to hear about your setbacks, but at least you are still on the right side of the grass, try to keep your chin up and look at the bright side of things.

Dave,
I wish we could have stopped by, but we had to get home for doctors appointments (This gettin' old ain't all it's cracked up to be). I would love to come up this summer to give you a hand, but the cost of diesel is probably gonna prevent that.  Take care and take it easy. Jack

Dave,

All the best to you, my friend. I don't know when we'll be coming home to visit the family this summer but we might just swing by for a visit.

Take care of yourself and heal good!

Dave,

Sorry to hear of your troubles.

From meeting you and reading your posts, you don't seem like the kind of guy who's going to
enjoy being stuck "taking it easy".  I wouldn't either.

But, maybe its a good time to turn some lemons into lemonade.

You probably have a whole stack of books that you just never seem to have time to read.

Or maybe take a free on-line course on something your interested in.

Or what I know I would do, read the entire How Stuff Works website.........

Anyway, I know, easy for me to say......

Hoping You heal quickly and sooner than expected

Hey Dave,

I feel your pain. I stopped to help a drunk driver in an accident in 98 and got hit by a car and went through a remarkably similar experience. Ruptured colon, septic, infection, fist sized hole that had to heal shut. I almost died from pneumonia that was caused by all the time on my back. Use your spurometer ( the thing you exhale into) because with a weakened system pneumonia is a tough one to beat. We are in Nashville preparing for a couple of months on the road but we may be able to visit you before we leave. My cell # is 612-385-7397 and my email address is rick@rickbarronmusic.com.

Give me a call or an email to discuss whether or not you're ready for guests.

We have a converted MCI 9.

I am praying for you my friend,

Rick Barron

Count me too!
Dr Dave/Reload...ing......Sorry to learn your pain of suffering and many nights & days of hurting. Knowing in your mind that you want to get out doing something that is progress.
Whenever you're able to do computer search...try looking up for something that might be interest to you & your wife such as "You Tube" about fuel alternative or whatever. Better yet, whenever I am not able to move around physically, to read book of John in KJV. It about who cares more than anyone in the universe.

I am not able to for awhile due to re-plumbing the water system at my wife's home in SC and getting Sojourner road ready sap.

That what my bus Sojourner is for to carry tools and living quarter to help out churches in need of repair and hurting bus nut like you. That is our mission.

Hopefully someone soon is calling you at your door to help.

My prayer list will have your name to pray everyday.

I so glad that you let us know your update now than never. I am sure many of us on board who may never post will be praying that The All Mighty may heal you quickly and make things easier for both of you & your wife.

E-mail me anytime....silverclip1 at AOL dot com.
Would like to hear from you!

We are looking forward that your user name be back to....Dr Dave Reloaded

Dave, we may not be able to come by and help, but we will certainly keep you in our prayers.

One of the hardest parts of a long recovery is keeping your spirits up and thoughts positive.  Do whatever works for you to try to stay positive.  Lean on your friends here and elsewhere a lot.  We're all pulling for you.

It's not that I am in a position to provide things like electric and other stuff that cost's me money. The hang is that if anyone want's to come visit I will need to collect for electricity.

I am not greedy but more in a cost recovery situation. My financial resources have been depleted and continue to be depleted further due to medications and health needs.

I just wanted to try to clear up the "free" thing.
