I have a couple of painting projects coming up and want to poll this vast source of information.

My first needs are sanding products.  I need stick-on long board sheets and stick-on discs for both sizes of DAs.

My paint choice is PPG.  I like their DP40 type epoxy primers and their high build surfacers.  Also like their finish products.  However, I am open to suggestions for the group.

The link below has some interesting products.  They used to carry the same epoxy primer as PPG but they no longer list it.  Anyone tried their products?

These products seem quite overpriced at the local sources, so I am looking for Internet based sources.

Try Southern Polyurethanes

http://www.southernpolyurethanes.com/

They manufacture excellent epoxy and hi build primers.  The have a line of paint and CC but I have not tried them yet.

Hi Jim,

I have been doing bodywork since I was 13 years old. And I mean Custom Hot Rod quality.

TCP Global has bought up all the leaders in high end paint and suppliers like House of Kolor [HOK Paint], Autobody Depot, and others.

When I did the prep work for the bus, I used this mother company and found that their prices are very reasonable. They sent me a very

good industreal Urathane gray for my baggage compartments and a rep from the company made sure I had all the supplies that were needed

to complete the job right.  Plus, the main site is constructed so that you can find anything you need there.

I have bought from tcpglobal before.  I could get better prices through them than with the local auto body supply.

I just shot 1/2 gallon of the Southern Urethanes Epoxy Primer today,  good stuff and only 129.50 for 2 gallons.

Brandon, I did some poking around on the internet and folks speak very highly of SPI products.

Their site has a good forum.

They do not sell directly.  Do you have a good source?

I buy from a local distributor.  If you call SPI they will give you their closest distributor.  They are very helpful when you call.

Thanks Brandon.

Now to abrasives.

I have a reasonable supply of Stickit DA discs, but need some long board paper.  I did some searching and, so far, the best supplier seems to be:

Anybody done business with them.  How about other suppliers?

we have been using a lot of the Souther Polyurathane product on the boats and would recommend it.
a lot of the companies that have been bought up lately have taken to watering down the product so to build the required mininum thickness requires a lot of coats. SPI is owned by a former owner of a company that was bought out and started SPI. he doesnt dillute the product so it builds fast and he is very helpful when it comes to customer service questions. unfortunately he doesnt make a lot of colors yet but what he does make is great.

That is the one Nick recommended and he seems quite satisfied with them.

Wow.  I poked around on the link Nick provided, and did not see the Sitckit paper.  I got to my link via google and did not bother to compare the links ::)

I guess I will order some paper from them later today.

Just spent the better part of an hour trying to place at order at tcpglobal.com and I can't find a way to set up an account.  They let you place items on your favorite list, but I can't find my created favorite list, let alone, convert it to an order.

Looked at the "contact us" and they did not see a good way to connect with them.

Can't believe they make it so hard to do business with them.

Hi Jim,

Once you choose your product and it's in your cart, two buttons appear for choice of check out. "Credit Card or PayPal"

I just did this and all seems well.

Good Luck

Selling on line myself I had a quick look at this website as 'buyer behaviour' on ecommerce sites is an important thing to people like me. I must admit the site design is poor, but the Add to Cart button is there if you look hard enough. Ignore the Add to Favourites button!

A shameless plug for my business - visit www.magazineexchange.co.uk for back issue magazines - thousands of titles covering cars, motorbikes, aircraft, railways, boats, modelling etc. You'll find lots of interest, although not much covering American buses sadly.
