Do you combine bus insurance with house/auto insurance?

Do you guys have your bus insured with the same company as your house and auto(s) or with a different company?

My insurance costs have seemed to be awful high for the past few years even with no tickets ever.  I got some bids for new insurance and one would save $400 a year.  This agent would put the bus with one insurance company and the house/auto with another company.  This agent said he always puts RVs on a seperate policy because he claims that with a combined policy an RV claim will affect the homeowner policy.  (Huh?)

I talked to my current agent and he said it is better to have everything on one policy.  He tried to get me covered with a less expensive carrier, but they refused to insure my nus.  (My current agent figured out it is a bus conversion at some point.)

My homeowners agent didn't want to touch insurance for my bus. My auto insurance agent would cover it but the cost was outragous. I called Progressive Insurance and they insured it for a little over $200 a year for liability. I will add collision when I get finished with the conversion.

The liability for mine will in all likelyhood go on the Nationwide policy with the house.  Cost is just over $200.00 a year.  Keep in mind, that is liability only.

My bus and auto are with State Farm. My auto with full coverage is about, now bear in mind this is FL where everything is twice as much, $800 year. Becuse I have both vehicles with SF I recieve a 50% discount on the bus. With full coverage it is only $900 a year!!!!!

I keep mine together and it gets a multipolicy discount.

Not to instill any fear in anyone but, make sure you have enough liability coverage. A bus is smuch larger then a car and can

create alot more damage [god forbid] in the event of a crash. I personally have 2 million but, thats because I own a few property's

and would have more to loose.

Nick brings up a good point.
Let's say you have coverage like a car, which is not much, in most states about $25,000 to $50,000 per accident for the liability part and I have seen Medical payment limits as low as $10,000.
If you were to hit a high end car and hurt a couple or more folks and lets say it was an $80,000 car you totaled and the medicals hit lets say $150,000 you would still be liable for $30,000 of the car and $140,000 for the medicals.
My autos are all much higher and the bus will be too.

I have had an umbrella liability policy of $1 million since the day I first got my own insurance.  (Well before the bus.)  You would be crazy to carry the state minimum on auto insurance, at least in Minnesota.

everything I have is with state farm.

two buses with very high coverage is less than 1200 a year for the pair
motorcycle is 300, truck is 600 or so

I had all my policies with a company that was very highly rated (USAA).   A very large claim, demonstrated that the various parts of the company operated very differently.

When I insured my replacement bus, they would NOT offer "agreed upon value".  After my experience, I believe "agreed upon value" is mandatory.  Thus, I had to go with a different insurance company, (National Interstate), for the bus.

Tell me more. I've insured with USAA for many years including my bus and never had any problems.

My 4104 is insured as a motorhome but has a lower value than many autos so maybe that has something to do with it.
