Well I guess you might have noticed i have not been here for a day or 3.  We got hit by that high wind gust that blew thur Texas Thurday morning, have been out of power ever since.

That brings me to the Question.  I have been able to power the ref and deep freeze from the side plugs on the bus but I have not been able to figure out how to get power out of the big plug to power more of the house.

I have been playing with things and I have found out that almost every thing seams to work in side .  One A/C does not power up but that is about it for things that should power from the genset.  The first time I ran it was great it ran for about two hours we cooked supper in the bus Thursday evening and ran the ref and freezer.  But it stopped and would only run for a few sec when I tried to restart it.  Yesterday I replaced the fuel filter and restarted it and it ran for about 1 hour and stopped and will only run about 15 sec and die.  I waited for it to cool down to see if it was a temp cut off but it did it again.  Then today again.  Any ideas?

One good thing about this all the wife is liking the bus more each day.  i hope to get it running asap.

I have more questions as i have been trying to work on it while the power was off but I will wait until next time and see what I find out on this.

Hi Bob,

I did this 2 years ago.  Right at my genset, I installed a 2ft' piece of my 50amp cord comming out of the generator. I then installed a 50 amp

plug and socket. I did this mostly because I had to pull my generator out a couple of times to replace the belt. Now, with this plug, I can

either use a 50amp 3 way adaptor, plug in my coach, plug in another coach, or both.

I also have pluged in my house 2 times during power outages.

Hope this answered your question.

Bob,

What generator do you have? I know by your signature thats it's a 14k but what brand?

Also, have you checked the cooling system?    Loose belts, low on coolant, bad water pump??

Is the gen giving you any fault codes?

dont know if it applies to yours but the genset I had on my hospitality trailer started doing the same thing. turned out to be the lift pump for the fuel. mine had a low pressure pump that supplied fuel to the mechanical pump that made the pressure. the pump started to fail and sometimes would run and sometimes would quit after a few seconds. as I recall it was a small inline carter pump that only made about 4psi or so.

the unit is a older Kubota I don't see any computer to give any codes.

It seams to have some wiring from a couple of sensors to a kill switch I assume.

I see a the sensor or two with single wires coming off of them.

The water seams to be moving around OK I can hold my hand to the radiator tank when it is running but not for long.  Is it still good and warm.  There is a small water leak (Drips)  in the tubing but not enough to cause the problem I will fix it when I take the radiator out and have the neck moved to the side of the top instead of coming down into the top of the top tank.

The Digital Gauges are a pain I am not sure how they should be wired as I see 3 wires coming off of the water sensor and then when I go to the gauge in the dash it only has two wires and then the Pos and Neg.  Both of the gauges for the genset seam to be this way.  The whole dash is this way.  I looked into buying sensors but nobody could find any thing that was done by wire, or any other way 35 feet.

There is only one belt and it is tight and not slipping.

You might have a point I don't care for the looks of the fuel ines going to the genset from the tank it has been spliced several times.  I plan on replacing it but did not think about it sucking air untill I read you post.  Maybe I reprimed it when I replaced the filter and it ran untill it ran the fuel out of the lines and now I need to do it all again?

Bob, when you get it running tell us if the shut down solenoid is shutting it off or it just runs out of fuel this will help

Bob Gil

I can not tell if either one is doing it.

I know that when it was running and I took the battery cable off it would dies.  But I am not sure what is killing it now.  when I try to restarte it there is a puff of blackist smoke like too much fuel.
