I had the stainless cleaned/polished on my MC8, and it looks great. But how do I keep it that way, someone suggested cleaning with a terry cloth towel and Windex. Any suggestions.

Hi Joe,

Lemon oil, a soft cotton rag, and elbow greese will keep it looking great for years.

Lemon will make you smile too

Hey Joe, how much did it cost to get your stainless polished?

Lin

After much internal debate, I have decided that my question is inline with keeping stainless clean since the front of the bus is stainless.  On our recent trip, we were the victims of a coordinated attack of suicide-bug bombers.  I can only imagine them shouting their last words (Allah Akbar and death to MCI stainless) as they flew with great speed into our innocent bow.  What have you found to be the best way to remove these poor, misguided fanatics from both glass and stainless, and help send them on their way to the waiting virgins?
You don't have to believe everything you think.

Rain-X works great on glass.  Makes it much easier to remove the bugs.  Not sure about the stainless, but in a previous post, someone said that it works on stainless too.

Lin,

I am sorry to say I have been the victim of the very same type of attack when I use to drive a truck in Florida. Although the fiendish devils traveled incognito under the pseudonym of "love bugs" they soon revealed their crazed plan in the same way you described. The only defense I ever found that actually worked was to coat the front of my truck with a very thin layer of Vaseline. This had the extra effect of providing a "soft" landing for some of the malefactors so that they would not die immediately on impact. That gave me the opportunity to torment them while they gasped their last little breaths with curses of  "May all your virgins look like Willie Nelson's twin sister" and "May you be reincarnated as a dung beetle". I am not sure this helped but it gave me something to do while I wiped their dieing bodies from my truck.

I have been told that the love bugs are very acidic and if they are left on the painted surfaces they will damage the paint.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body. But rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, a good Reisling in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming:  WOO HOO, what a ride

PP

I've polished mine with a power buffer and metal polish and it shines up real nice, but it doesn't look like chrome. Am I missing something here? Or am I trying to achieve the impossible? This is a serious question, there are lots of other things I could be spending my time on. Just ask my wife, LOL

When driving through an onslaught of bugs during love bug season (or any bugs during spring/fall), placing saran wrap on the windshield when running the gauntlet allows you to simply peal off the bugs when you stop to fuel - simple, cheap and painless - FWIW

It cost $350 to do all the stainless plus $5.00 per wheel.
I had it done at M&M Polishing right across the interstate from the Flying J in Eloy AZ.

Thanks for the info Joe. Sounds like a pretty good deal, since this is a big job that's only fun for the first half hour.
