Greetings,

Does anyone have a ballpark for how much a 82 MC-9 weighs without seats and luggage racks or bathroom? (6v92 with 740 Allison.)

Anyone think it's over 18,000 lbs?

I have a mc7 that i converted -- with 4 people 180 gal of water - full of fuel -- and converted it weights ~ 33,000 ... that is with a 800 lbs genset lots of plywood and stuff ... I like 26,000 - 30,000 stripped -- for 7 bucks at a truck stop you could know to the lb -- even line up the plates get the axles divided and you will know your front axle, your drive and the tag axle weight - you might even get a trading card with a big truck on it -- lol

pull on the scales hit the intercom -- they will tell you that they have your weight - and they will give you a print out --

The CO-OP's out in the country always have scales to weigh the grain and feed trucks coming and going. If you don't need an official weight ticket, it's usually free.

chaz, why are you looking for that weight? Your Curb weight when you register should be the curb as a converted coach not a shell.....

my fully gutted 4104 weighed that much. I'd add another 8-10,000 lbs

I wouldn't stray much below 30 000lbs in estimating.

It might help if we knew why you are asking.

You won't be sneaking that thing's weight below any of the licencing thresholds, fer shure.

Our seated Mc-8 weighed 27,300 when we purchased it. After removing all seats, luggage racks aqnd AC, bus weighed 24,000. After the conversion, it now weighs about 35,000.  Jack

Thanks for the replies.... been gone for the weekend. The reason I wanted to know was to register it. They charge you for how much it weighs, so I was trying to get off as cheap as possible. What are the going rates for yearly tags?

One of the great things about Tennessee.  Motorhome registration is $23 per year no matter what the weight.     I registered mine for the full 36,000 pound GVWR on the specs.

Since your state is apparently weight based, keep in mind that the registered weight becomes the legal weight.  Irregardless of the design weight capacity, it will be technically illegal for it to be loaded past that weight.  I'm not sure there will ever be cause for your bus to get weighed by DOT, but if for any reason it were, you would be in violation if it was registered at 22,000 but had grown to 28,000 or more after convesion.  Just something to think about.  You know me, I'm the party pooper.
