Tork

I need some help, and I know there are a lot of knowledge here. I'm installing a winch on a bull dozer and I have to tork the 3/4 inch grade 8 bolts to 220lbs. There is no way that I can get a tork wrench in the area of the bolts, I had to make a wrench to fit, what I have done so far is make a wrench out of a 3/4 inch socket and cut it down and welded a bar bent to fit, I used a 3.5 ft pipe and added apx. 150lbs to the bar, I'm I anywhere close to the 220lbs tork. I know there is a formula r for this, so many ft with so much weight, Can any one help. Thanks.

Busnut, I may be wrong but I think 220lbs at 1 foot +220 ft lbs.  Tom Y

Divide 220 by 3.5 and that is the weight you need on the end of the wrench.

If you have already put 150# on a 3.5ft lever that is about 525ft/lbs.  (3.5 X 150 = 525)  All you need at 3.5ft is about 63# to get 220ft/lbs.

Thanks all, I went back to the shop and loosened one bolt at a time and stood on a pair of scales and pulled on the end of the pipe till I had 65lbs more then my weight. and on the other side 65lbs less then my weight. Should be close, I figure I had about 300lbs before because it took about 20 to 25lbs more to loosen them. Thanks again I know it was not related to buses but could be use on such.
