Why do so many people advise changing to an air modulator when installing an air throttle. The cable modulator works fine with an air throttle and is easier to adjust to the governor? I have installed three air throttles and left the cable modulator with no problems. I have talked to several people who had trouble trying to get their air modulator switching at the right time.

I don't know Stan I kept my cable one because I did not know you needed to change over to a air modulator 7 years ago

Stan,

Old trueism: "Less is more."

Thanks.  I will install an air throttle if my bus doesn't have one already so this will come in handy.

Thanks,

John

For those that left the cable link, how did you hook all this up? I am about to install and would like to see how you did that. Anyone have a picture of their install?
Thanks,

Tom, it requires a bracket on the assembly part where the rod from the throttle control connects to the linkage.I would have to remove my floors to get you a photo of mine but if no one has a photo I will do that.Looking back now I did not know about the air modulators and no one told me or I would have used the air instead of the manual  would have been easier for me   good luck

You have to have a bracket to mount the air pot to the governor housing so that it connects to the same point as the existing throttle control (rod or cable), and moves it in the correct direction. Nothing more is required as the modulator responds to the throttle position.

If you already have an automatic, you should have a piece that is mounted onto the throttle shaft sticking out of the top plate, that has two arms at right angles. The modulator connects to one arm and the throttle control from the front connects to the other arm.

Tom, I don't know what brand of air throttle you have but the one I got for my Eagle it came with the bracket ,controller and new throttle arm as 1 unit you removed the old throttle arm and screws installed the unit on the housing  and my modulator was connected to the throttle cable at the end with a bracket to operate it.  I have a 8v92 in my bus if that make any difference

Thanks for the reply's. I am getting the Williams throttle and control valve but it has no bracket. I created another post to ask about that.
