Haven't started the bus in about 1 1/2 years, it had new oil put in then.  Now I need to start it and turn it around and then it will set for another year while I finish it.  Should I change oil before I start it???  It is an 8V92TA

Thanks,

No, not if all you are going to do is turn it around and then let it sit for another year. That would be a complete waste.

I concur.  Just money down the drain, so to speak. The oil in the crankcase is just as good now as when you put it in there. And when you get finished in a year, it'll still be good for 5-10K miles on the road.

Of course this is assuming you used the proper 40wt oil and have no other issues such as leaking injectors, coolant leaking into the crankcase, etc.

Thanks,

I just didn't know if the oil would absorb acids and things just sitting there.

Ray, the acids come from the bus riunning a lot...in fact they come from the sulfur in the fuel which eventuately turns to sulfuric acid which eats up parts!  In your case it has not run much.  No worry.
I think I will post a thread on the sulfur problem...hope it doesn't turn into a high stakes 'flamming' thing!
