Slow Shifting Then No Shifting.....

As previously indicated I just got home from a 900 miler, and no events.
Today, I fire up the 6V92 with Allision 64? trans/ Stone Bennett shifter, and drive 8 miles to the storage bldg. Some stop & go then 45 mph, stopped at a lite and the bus up shifted to second, and then I was traveling at 30 mph, at 2400 RPM. Air pressure at 110 psi. I manually shifted the control back to 3, then 2, then 3, then D, No Change.
I pulled over and nearly stopped, but resumed slowly and I was then able to up shift normally ( actually automatically ).
Now I am wondering what is up. I have a Fla. trip scheduled for 12/7.

I checked the air blow down in the rear of the 5C, just the slightest mist blowing out when manually purged.

I looked be not really knowing what linkage I am looking at to see if there is a need for lubrication.

I really am thinking it was air related, cold weather setting and condensation, but I do not want to get nearsighted on this problem.

I appreciate any and all suggestions, Please.

Thanks in advance.

P.S. While here I am also thinking unrelated that my bus lacked power thru the Pa. Turnpike hills. I am due for a Luke windshield, and will replace the fuel filters at that time.
Any further thoughts on this one ? ? ?

Sounds like you have some gunk in the shifter shuttle (slide).
( could also be loose via a loose mounting bracket bolt )
You may want to pull the lines and wash the shuttle out with some WD40

Make sure you hear the selector solenoids tripping when you select gear positions.

Could also just be a bad toggle switch too...( or going bad? )

When they work they are great, When they don't work they are a mystery...

Good Luck...

Dr.D,
Thanks I will check this out in the AM. I really did not think to check the relays. These are located in the left electrical panel accessable from outside. Hopefully I will be able to hear them pull in, if not I will get some one to feel for actuation.

I will flush out the lines second, However the intermittent may indicate a mechanical problem.

I will also recheck the trans fluid level, did that 2 months ago (2000 miles).

Thanks Again,
Gary
P.S. Gatta ask Dr. Dave, you are not a transplant from Texas, as I have lost contact with a work friend (Dave) about 10years ago in Paris ? You share his remarkable insight to repairs and life.

Nope not from Texas..

I transplanted myself from Central Florida to Middle Tennessee in July of this year.

Some say that I am crazy for doing that. But if they only knew how crazy I am...
Then nobody would ask.

The mechanical insight comes from years of doing a lot of stuff. It also comes from weeks spent crawling under a bus trying to figure out why the Stone Bennett didn't work right. Mine was electrical combined with the slide being full of crud...
Then a relay "do not shift" was bad in another panel. Then the neutral safety reset for the stone bennett decided to go goofy. ( finally had to bypass the allison switch! )

Funny transmission behaviour...first thing to check is tranny fluid level.

that is my contribution!

happy coaching!
