Had a fellow call me.  He has a 6V92TA DDECII.  Has water coming out of the slobber box and a little bit in the oil.

He is not comfortable with the DD dealer in Nashville.

I thought that there was a thread related to this some time ago, but my search did not find it.

Any thoughts on what the problem is?  He did not see white smoke out of the exhaust.  I would guess a liner seal issue or a head gasket.

Thanks, Jim

Busted Knuckle

Jim,
Probably like you said or one of the rubber O-rings! We are about 3 hrs from Nashville. And I can get him hauled in for around $700-750.00, or I have some reasonable contacts in Nashville & will actually be in Nashville this evening myself!

Hi Bryce.  I had written you an email.  I figured you were on the road, when I did not hear from you.

I brought up your shop, but he was concerned about it being quite a distance.  Had not considered towing.

BK, do you think it would hurt it to drive it to your shop?

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body. But rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, a good Reisling in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming:  WOO HOO, what a ride

If there is coolant in the oil I would be very concerned.  He could turn his motor into a boat anchor as coolant and oil don't mix.  I personally wouldn't drive it 750 miles with the symptoms he describes.

Jim this fellow is in Bowling Green KY about 50 miles North of Nashville.  He was with Prevost in Nashville before going out on his own.  Came very highly recommended by a fellow in Nashville.  Also has a service truck.

Jim,

Our shop is about 170 miles from Bowling Green.

For myself, I wouldn't have a problem using some Barr's Leak in the system and bringing it gently on down here, but, if your friend isn't well versed with all the things that could happen, he's better off either getting it fixed there or having it towed.

I'll ask BK to check on a wrecker call.

You guys are great!  Any reservations I have in becoming a bus owner are relieved by post like this.  I am cut from your cloth but I am lacking in you skills and experience.  I will honor the tradition, however.  Eugene isn't central but I am on the way to a lot of places.  541 915 0832 and jegrabe@efn.org

Jim,
I checked with Bryce and he says it'll be about the same as he told you from Nashville.

JohnEd,
If you really wanted to be a good Samaritan, you could post your help information over on Dave Siegels Help Assist List.
It's a great resource for any of us that are broken down along the way, or even a way to plan ahead for a coffee stop.
