Queen Mattress, What do You Like?

Getting ready to buy a mattress. Was wondering what preferances you have and why?

Regular or RV length?

regular queen. Its exactly what I have in my house.  The sheets are all interchangeable.

I have regular queen bed and have tried air but don't work well when you change altitude. just trying foam type so far I like it. Jerry

I have a King Koil (Queen) pillow top on a plywood frame. Sleeps better than the high priced king size in the house.

I put a full size queen in our coach.

It is made of 5" of medium foam with a 2" memory foam top. 

Ordered it from Knox foam.

Did the same for my two bunks.

It sleeps very well, uses standard sheets.

They also sell a breathable zip on cover that will not let moisture through but will let the foam breathe from the inside out. Its a must for a foam mattress. As they are verrrry absorbant! 

You wont believe how small the package it comes in. (vacuumed packed) Open and stand back..

I put the short queen in,big mistake. Very limited choice of mattress's. Limited choice of bedding, but the bedding has come down in price over the years.

Presently we have a standard size queen, (interchangeable sheets with the guest room) but we have recently installed a Select Comfort bed (king) in our master bedroom, and when we sell the house we are going to change the queen pillow top in the bus with a queen size Select Comfort. By far the best nights sleep ever. And the all around coolest in warm weather. Sheets fit perfectly and it is very, very easy to make up.

That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it.

    I would not even consider an RV length mattress for 3 reasons, they are usually more expensive, harder to find fitted sheets (usually more expensive) and most important My feet usually end up hanging off the end of the bed! 
    We have a "air bed" and love it. Since we travel in the Southeast, we have not encountered any problems due too altitude changes.  Jack

I used a normal 80 x 60 queen for the rear bed.  I made my pull out sofa/bed in the front so it also pulls out into a standard 80 x 60 queen.  The dinette makes into an odd 78 x 42-just use double sheets-close enough.  Good Luck, TomC

Had thought about an air bed for temporary use in the bus, then use as guests when our kids visit. How has your held up?

We will get a standard Queen Pillow Top at a later time. Just trying to have a place to sleep for the rally for now.

Thanks guys for the replys. The use of a standard Queen as opposed to RV type is what I thought. Makes more sense.

For the bus, in 1999 we purchased a $39.95 WalMart air mattress to use until we had the inside finished. It finally failed 10/06.  We replaced it with a better air mattress from WalMart. I think we paid $79.95 for this one. The first was just an air mattress, no cover or foam pad. The replacement mattress we purchased last fall is inside a "regular mattress looking cover" and has a layer of memory foam on top of the air bladder as wall as an electric (120 volt) air pump.  My wife like it better than our select comfort we have at home. (the WalMart mattress has a single air bladder, our Select Comfort has 2 air bladders)  Jack

Select Comfort Sleep Number, in RV Queen size.
Fits me fine, and my Chiropractor is looking for new patients since my bed has 'fixed' my bad lower back.   
Regular queen sheets fit it OK.

We have a queen just like the one in the house. Sleeps the same where ever you go .Just like home. Marcus
