Jake Brake 12 volt want 24 volt

When I put Jake on 6/92 they where for 12 volt.What do I need to switch to 24 volt.I hope not a whole new system

You're doing just what I'm doing...the good news is that the only items which are voltage sensative are the 4 (providing you have both banks) electrically operated solenoids under the valve covers.  Everything else will fly at 24V. 

Depending on how quickly you need 'em any Detroit Diesel can get 'em for ya.

Hook them to one 12 volt battery. The jake brake is used for very short periods at a time and the coils draw little current.I assure you it will not hurt the batteries.

Thanks glang, Thats what I am going to do. Checked with DD dealer and 24 volt were $143.00 each

Another option is use the 12 volt from the house batteries. I run my headlites off the house batteries or gen start battery. It does not need to be the bus batteries . Any 12v will work.

and others, One of the nice things about our new board is that if you make a mistake in your post, you can fix it.
Just look at the buttons up and to the right of your post and click on the one that says "modify". It will take you to the place where you can type your changes and repost.

I hope this helps with future problems.
