I had a flat last night 5 miles west of Welcome, Mn. I am in Fairmont now at a Goodyear dealer and seems they have never heard of my tire size even though they are Goodyear tires. I have 12.75R 22.5  If anybody close knows where I can get one or any suggestions call me at 239-292-1750 My computer is waaaaay tooooo slow here. Outside drive tire

belfert

Won't a 12R22.5 fit or is that not a size they are familiar with either?

Ednj

The 12.75R-22.5, are the same as  315/80R22.5,

I called Ron and suggested moving the tags to the drives, and buy a set of used tires for the tags, as the tags don't care what size they are.

i blew out one on the 11r 22.5 on my scenicruier once and hopped on into canton trades day we set up out shop. next monday on the way home i stoped at a place which had some  truck tires on the ground. we found one that looked new and took it to a shop to get it mounted. air was coming out from under the cap. so looks don't mean they are good. i did get my money back after some time.  thanks j.t

Ron,

I think that 75 part means it is a very old tire and probably is not made any more.  I haven't seen a truck tire marked that way for a very long time.

All older tires were 75 Series but usually it wasn't marked on large tires.  Cars also used that Series for many years.

It is the ratio of height to max overall tire width such as 10" wide by 7.5" from the ground to the bead.

I just got off the phone with Ron.
He put a 315 on and blew the inside dual 100 miles later.
He said the tires looked great and were properly inflated.
Another example of what I am always preaching. 2-3 years on the steer axle and no more than 7 years on tag/drive axle.
He made it to his destination safely and is getting ready to replace his tires. If anyone knows of any deals right now he would be grateful I am sure.

I enjoyed talking to him. We ended up spending an hour on the phone.

I just sent Ron a couple of texts messages with some info he may find useful in his search for tires.

Cool, I'll bet he will take all the help we can give him. I don't think he planned on replacing his tires right now. We all know how pricey they have become

Doesn't surprise me a bit. He should have replaced both duals on that side of the drive with a matched pair. The new one was probably
taller than the old one, which caused the old one to skip as it rolled along, which built up heat and caused it to blow. Dual tires need to be
a matched set, in both size and wear.

What surprised me was when I heard that commercial airplanes have no guidelines as to when to replace their tires.  I know they retread them a few times, and evidently replace them when they are looking bad or blow.  Personally, my first set of tires were 12 years old when I replaced them (but then again I keep my bus indoors).  Good Luck, TomC

Ron,

Here is the link to the 295/80/22.5 tires I bought at that dealer. http://www.wingfootct.com/products/rv/G670.pdf Looks like you would need to step up to the 315 size.

Good luck!

TomC,

Heavy airplanes wear out the treads so fast that they don't have to worry about carcass life!

They go from 0 mph to 130-150 mph in a blink of the eye, this is pretty hard on treads.

I just booked a show in Poplar Bluff Missuri for Thursday night so looks like I might be close enough to go to the Tennessee bash. Mabee I can find a good deal on tires there. looks like it's pretty close on the map any how.

Way cool Ron! We'll be glad to meet you and maybe BK can come up with some decent tires, after all, there's an MC8 here that isn't being used for much of anything! I'm sure the owner wouldn't mind a bit!

About 105 miles from Poplar Bluff to here!
