I finally found the Power Grip clamps on the Gates website.  It looks like these to be destroyed to be removed, correct?  Gates says to remove you need a special tool or a soldering iron.  Bk, how have you removed these?

Yes! And yes you have to cut the old one off and replace it when done! I do carry a couple spares of common sizes and a propane torch to replace them with! I have the cutting tool at the shop (as I stock them and have a complete kit!) but I also have used a razor knife (utility knife), or a piece of hacksaw blade to cut them off on the side of the road! They are wider than a regular clamp and they make a complete seal around the hose. I have used them to  repair pin holes in hoses, both coolant hoses and shop air hoses! Of course I also carry an assortment of old style clamps just in case I have to cut one off and don't have the correct power grip with me to replace it with! (I had plenty left over from using power grips on all hoses in the engine compartment on dads bus!) Been a year and a half (approx 60,000 miles) with not one clamp related problem on his bus, not even cold water leaks which is why I used them in the first place!! And as I get time/replace hoses I am starting use them every where I need a hose clamp! FWIW ;D  BK  ;D
