I have been thinking about selling our bus for some time, but this is a hard decision with many hours or days of thought behind it. My wife and I just can not see anyway that we will ever use the bus and it is a shame just to leave it set. The reason that I'm posting, I need some input from the board  members.  I just do not know what to ask for a selling price, that will not make the sale linger on forever. I will give you a little history of what I have and try to make it as short as possible. I purchase the bus in May of 99.  It is an MC8 which was already converted by Valcon Coach in 1985.  I knew very little about motor homes and less about buses, but I have been around equipment all my life.  I soon found out that I wanted to make some changes and that was putting it mildly.  I have changed the engine to a new 0 miles 8v-92 and had the 740 tran completely rebuilt, new radiators, and larger squirrel cage fans, new u-joints, all new air bags and leveling valves, all new  hoses, all 8 new tires and battery's, new awnings, new Peninsula windows, a sound proof  box which houses a 15kw diesel gen.  I also installed a Auto type A/C system for the dash and middle of coach.  I have baseboard heat with kick toe heaters, powered by a tankless Precision Temp lp heater.  With this I can heat the engine coach or domestic hot water, or all this with the bus engine.  It has polished Alcoa all around, all wheels have been pulled and the brakes and wheel bearing checked or replaced where needed.  New Freight liner head lights, and RV style taillights, a 12V prime pump for the engine, 12V set up for the tote lights.  Cruise control. running lights, lights on the side and front and rear bumper, lights in the bays, and several bays heated with all bay doors, fuel tank and engine compartment locks. The inside is light oak, it has 3 single beds with a large couch, 2 Ref , a convection oven and a microwave, gas stove and oven, carpet in the rear and a light floating floor in the front, It also has a leveling system and you can also run the front a/c while going down the road with the 4000 watt trace inverter, the house is power by a 3000 watt heart inverter with 4 golf cart battery's. It also has a LCD TV and a roof auto dish, but not one in motion.  3 roof a/c with heat, these are older units.  I know this is a lot more, but this is just off the top of my head, I know that I have in the neighbor hood with out going through a pile of receipts roughly $125,000.00  and  many thousand of hours in this hobby.  I know the loss will be great, but that's why I need some help with this.  Selling this will be like selling a t part of me, but with that said nothing is forever, and it is a shame to just leave her set there.  I do excise her on a regular basis. When I have this all figured out I will be posting it for sale with MAK.   I thank you for your input in advance.  Always a bus nut.

Why not just post it on THE SPARE TIRE? ($50.00 limit) And do you accept Pay Pal? LOL

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body. But rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, a good Reisling in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming:  WOO HOO, what a ride

Sorry to hear of your decision to sell, not getting the chance to enjoy all your hard work.
I can only offer a suggestion - part it out. Sell whatever folks are interested in buying.
You can demo all items you mention, therefore increasing their resale value.
Might be able to recoup more $$$ that way, take less of a loss??
Just a thought. Good luck with whatever your decision may be.  8)

Busnut- sounds like it is ready to use-why not use it?  Once you sell this, will you buy another-probably not-so you'll be closing the door on bus conversion travelling.  Instead of trying to get the bus "perfect", get it so everything works and go use it!  Course, you didn't say the real reason for selling-whether it be lack of funds or health issues?
Personally, I'm 51, still working and can't imagine my life without the bus, and its' therapy when working on it.  My wife always says I'm much more relaxed after coming back from working on it-great diversion.  If I were in your shoes, I would more think about renting your house out and getting on the road for a few months or years of traveling the North American countries.  Good Luck, TomC

With the market down and fuel costs climbing, I would say your loss will be especially large. I agree with those who suggest other options including renting the bus or leasing the bus to someone who isn't interested in total ownership. I might also suggest that you contact a local RV dealership who might be interested in working with you on a lease or rental program. I might also suggest that you look into a timeshare arrangement with others. Oftentimes people might be willing to pay a premium for not having all the hassles associated with ownership. Particularly a BUS.

Anyway, sounds like you have a beautiful rig and it would be a shame to take such a loss or worse yet, see all your hard work never enjoyed.

Good luck!
