Hello. I'd like to convert my 1987 MC9 to the small HID headlights like the new coaches use. Has anyone done this, and what lights were used? Thanks, Zeke.

Hi Zeke,

Last year, International Bus Parts in Alpopka FL, were working on a HID conversion kit for earlier MCI's, complete with the beezels...

I'm not sure if they are ready for us bus nuts yet, but you could call them and ask.

Good Luck

This isn't really an answer to your question, but since we are talking headlights, I'd like to post the following link I found....

http://www.gti-vr6.net/library/electrical/Headlamp_FAQ.html

The guy provides one of the better summaries I have seen discussing the various styles of automotive headlight systems.  Makes for interesting reading for anyone considering an upgrade.

WEC's link to lighting FAQs is a good one, study it thoroughly.

IMHO, you'd be far better off simply replacing your current DOT-code lamps with E-code models.  Probably a lot less expensive than the modifications you'd have to make to the front end to get the projector lamps to fit, too.  A full set of four (two low/hi, two hi) will set you back about $250 or so, but, seriously, what price safety.

E-code Cibie lamps are available also from www.cibieusa.com.
