If you're searching for the perfect vehicle to flat-tow behind your bus or motorhome, Roadmaster—one of the nation's leading manufacturers of tow bars and towing equipment—has the data to guide your decision.

Based in Vancouver, Washington, Roadmaster tracks the popularity of Toads (a nickname for vehicles towed behind motorhomes) by monitoring sales of their vehicle-specific baseplates. Since each vehicle requires a uniquely designed baseplate, the company can accurately determine which makes and models are most commonly used on the road today.

Below is a list of the top 10 most popular Toads, based on the past 12 months of baseplate sales. If you're in the market for a new Toad, this list offers a solid starting point.

I wore out 2 Jeeps towing and tried trailering a Lexus SUV ,I don't ever want to trailer again,it saves on the wear of a towed vehicle but is is a real pain finding room to park The GMC Envoy was the easiest to hookup and tow but  is a heavy sucker, if I buy another RV it will  have the ISX 600 and I will tow the Envoy

I'm making some small progress on doing a cargo bay car instead. I've kept the center bay empty for that purpose. Looked at a modified Crosley Hotshot as a possibility but it turns out the wheelbase is too long at 85 inches. The Bugeye Sprite is a possibility. The door would have to be top hinged and guide rails fitted as the body is 53 inches wide but distance from the bottom of the body to the top of the cowling is just 26-1/2 inches. Wheelbase is 80 so with 20 inch tires and possibly the wheels cut the door should close. Front and rear bodywork would have to be bobbed back to the tires but it has wishbone front suspension and quarter eliptic rear meaning nothing has to stick out. Weight is about 1500lbs.

A Berkeley might be an option if one could be found as it's 50" wide with a 70" wheelbase and a curb weight of 605 lbs. Probably there are others.

I currently pull a 2005 dodge ram 2500 (cummins) with my mc5. With only about 280 bhp it really does slow things down. It's almost manageable in the Midwest but difficult up mountains in the west.

I have the roadmaster system and braking box.

I'm about 2 weeks away from completing my toad project. I'm just now installing the rear-view camera system. Other than that, I'm ready. I have the Falcon Rough Terrain Roadmaster tow bar and the Ready Brake system where the Ready Brake mechanically pulls the brake in the toad. The toad is a 2006 Jeep Liberty. I bought it specifically for towing. I'll be towing it to Weiser Idaho in June for the Old-Time Fiddlers contest.
