Some of you may remember our earlier Alaska road trip posts. We'd been up here this year since mid May. We were loaned a schoolie "haul rig" as we call it by a generous fellow busnut from Canada and hauled most everything you see in the photo with that rig. Breezing through border crossings was never so easy - go figure! Not even asked to step out for inspection. The large addition to the tiny 8x8 exsisting shelter was completed by yours truly in eight weeks. As a retired carpenter all I can say is this 73 yo still has it. Thought I'd share this as our (my) forth trip - this time fully solo. I miss my converted 4104 and wifey but gave me undivided attention to a quest that will end and return trip in mid Sept.  :^

I would add that Dan did indeed do all of this work from the ground up in the last two months, and he drove that school bus and trailer combo fully loaded from Florida to Alaska, by himself. I don't think too many of us could accomplish that feat!  :o

I'll X2 that!  What an amazing accomplishment!  I'm pretty much at the end of my bus days other than local camping but I'd sure love to meet Dan and Sandy.  Funny how that all works out.  Jack

Thanks guys. If wifey comes up next year we'll have the 04 otherwise if solo I'd fly. As the AK home front gets more complete & comfy we'll have the option to fly instead of drive. I personally love the road trip but not so much the fuel pumps!  :o

Well the small home in Tok has been completed including electrical and exterior wall insulation. We've returned the haul rig to it's owner and are back to our principal residence in Florida. We hope to return next summer with the bus (and may be the last time our conversion makes the trip) to do the interior buildout.

Pretty impressive Dan. Makes me feel positively lazy for not getting anything done on the bus this year but I've had other things that took priority. I plan to get back on it about the time the weather changes.

I saw it on the Internet. It MUST be true...

Looks great Dan, I think these are the first pics I've seen since the first trip. Quite an improvement.

I also hate flying. I did a few trips to Anchorage in a semi, I would leave tomorrow if someone would pay for the fuel.
