Yep, six is a good round number to use for budgeting these days. Not long ago I was spouting about a buck a mile at $5. I guess I'll still say the same thing, wishful thiking the bus now gets 6mpg.

Gasoline in Oklahoma and Texas is $3.29 to $3.89 for regular. One place was $3.89 for premium for the Thunderbird, lowest price for the 4000 mile trip...

What is ironic, here in Nampa, Idaho where no oil is produced, Diesel at WalMart is $4.46. Cheaper than Commefornia. Good Luck, TomC

Tom you have 3 large fuel distributors in Boise fuel is pumped in from pipe lines,Marathon bought the Chevron center,on Phillippi and Cole rd,Sinclair is located on Curtis and United on Phillippi the oldest and largest was owned by the Franklin family since 1939, I knew Robert Franklin, I heard Robert sold it to some outfit from Washington but those 3 are where the petroleum products come from in that valley ,I miss that valley, now it is getting over crowded though houses, box stores and shopping centers stand where fruit ochards were when we lived there.Idaho does have oil and gas wells I seen a few wells in Payette

I average about 7.5 MPG with my Series 60 in my 1967 Eagle.  I estimate it costs about $2/mile when I consider fuel, and other maintenance costs to run the bus.  I do not travel as many miles each year as I used to with the price of fuel being so high, and never have been able to afford to stay in RV parks.  I also try to plan my routes so I travel more downhill than I do uphill stretching out my fuel mileage as much as possible.

Yes exactly.  I forgot exactly which gears we put in, but i went from an avage of 5.5 to 7.5 MPG with that swap. Best thing I ever did for that bus.  Thanks Cliff.
