 I think there are some members who do not know how to type.  It is not hard to learn. You have spent hundreds of dollars on a computer and thousands on a bus. You have vast knowledge that we all could use and the only thing stopping you is the inability to keyboard. You really owe it to yourself to learn, it could open up a whole new world . It takes some time, but it is not that hard. I do not want to hear, I'm too old or its too late. Those are excuses not reasons.

In this computer age it is a good skill to acquire. Makes for less time doing a project like keeping a journal on your conversion, asking for help when busted down on the road, paying bills etc. etc. etc..

jjrbus said it is not hard to learn, he is right. Just a little effort and before you know it, will fall into place.

After saying that, some of us have skills that others don't have. That's OK, I am not a diesel mechanic, but others on this board are or have been.

hah hah ..  seriously - my Mom insisted I take typing in high school.  EMBARRASING at the time, but - one of the most important classes I ever took.  Use it daily.  How many other classes can I say that about now?  VERRRRY few.

I use the age old H&P method of typing, even though I took typing in highschool and achieved a 30NWPM average.

Sometimes I use 2 fingers, sometimes I use 4, and in bursts of great enthusiasm, I'll even use the fingers on the other hand!

Mostly though, I type with the "Fat Finger" method..... I hit a bunch of keys and then look at the screen so I can delete all the letters that don't belong!

Jim - mostly I remember the looks the other guys gave me as I walked into the class, and some of the heckling I sustained from a few wiseguys.  Maybe they were just envious?

Cat won't do my typing for me! 

She also makes me do other things like fix her dinner, rub her back, peel grapes for her, fan her with palm fronds, lay across mud puddles so she won't get her dainty little clod hoppers soiled.

It's a hard life, but, I guess someone has to do it.

And besides, look what I get in return.... she lets me live my schemes and dreams!

Who could ask for anything more?

I took typing way earlier than any male. Turned in a typed paper in Jr. High that the teacher refused to accept because she thought my Mom did it.

Funny, I'm getting slower and slower these days.

I took typing in high school because I figured it was a easy class and would be mostly girls, I was right.  That class has served me well over the years.  Took the typing class in Marine Corps boot camp and after that I always had a office job, except on menovers then I carried a 30 cal machine gun.  Took care of the service record books so no one messed with me.  Know how hard it is to get your payroll records straighten out?

This is a good typing tutor that you can get for free for a few days to try. Several years ago when I started to get active on the computer at my company I decided to upgrade my typing skills. I also took a couple of semester of typing in high school. That was where all the honeys were at! Anyhow, I explored  several different tutors and settled on Ten Thumbs Typing Tutor as the best one for me. Within several weeks my typing skills increased to the 40-45 wpm range. I recommend it for anyone just starting out in touch typing or to upgrade existing skills.
