Help with worn door hinge?

Hello all,
I would really like to figure out a solution to my worn out door hinge.  The door is probably about 1/2 too low and the top of the door hangs out too far and you have to push the door closed by letting it shift into the opening.  In short the top hinge is shot.

Not sure what the best route might be to solve this situation.  We are full timers, so need a game plan that works for that.

I was thinking about getting a new to me cast iron hinge arm and bolt and seeing if that is all that is worn.  If the bus side is worn, well that looks complicated.

Was MCI smart in making the easy to replace parts out of softer steel than the the difficult to replace parts?  (Subaru did this)

Are there bushing solutions for this?

Any insight and knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I talked to Sam Caylor at Caylor Bus Salvage and I think I have a plan of attack.  He was very helpful with diagnosing the problem and explaining the fix.  I have a couple parts coming, then I need to dig into it whaI have some time and some other parts.

I was going to suggest Sam, but you're already there.  He helped me with an upper door hinge when mine cracked between four bolts on the door side of the 5C. He sent me an excellent used one, gave it a quick coat of paint, and off into the sunset it went. Well, the bus did when I sold it, that is.

Replacing that upper hinge wasn't too difficult, just make sure you support the door with a floor jack or similar, as that sucker is HEAVY! A second pair of hands is helpful when realigning the bolt holes, too.

FWIW & HTH. . .  ;)

Thanks, yeah, Sam was great help.  It seems that I will be taking the front skin of the bus.  The one under the windshield to gain access the the buss side of the hinge fix that side.

Another adventure.

Interesting. I didn't have to do anything with the outer skin, was able to replace mine just by taking off the closer cover and the defroster intake screen. Of course, maybe what you need to change out is different than what I had to do. . .

I am going to have to repair the bus side of the hinge.  The part that is welded to the bus frame.  The holes are not round anymore.  That is the reason for the skin removal.

Fun!
