power was out for 6 hrs at the house I am building so when it got dark I gave up and went home to the old house

good thing most of my tools are battery powered now but when I go up today I hope the power is back on as I need to charge them all

I grew up in small town U.S.A. Do you guy's remember when most towns had a bus depot? Greyhound use to service our area they moved people yes but also brought parts for the car dealers and goods for the hardware.

I remember the first Greyhound bus? in our town when a kid. Loved that exhaust smell.

Yep I remember Trailways and Greyhound bus stations and drivers unloading supplies and maybe a passenger and their bags back then it was the way your parts were shipped no Fedx or UPS

Back to EV.

1) They are sutpidly simple devices. A battery, cables, an inverter, and a motor. done.


2) Yeah, battery replacement is a issue. I have not researched how much is recyclable at scale. I'm assuming there are rare materials in there and at scale there could be ways to recover at least some of the material. 


3) It's coming for real, so no need to argue about if, it is just when, and watch for the amount of continued or increased government subsidy to get over the hump. (Yes, this one is political)

4) Wild card but a few years out is fusion. If the recent breakthroughs lead to clean energy on a small scale, micro plants in each city for example, that will put an end to where does clean energy come from.


5) Long haul transport will transform in a major way. Once autonomous is commonplace and most truck/trailers running down the highways are driverless, then less are needed as they can run 24/7. As to recharging, all that is needed is swappable power packs and that can be automated too. Truck pull into a recharge station, gets positioned to where robots remove and replace the battery pack and off it goes on the next leg.


6) The last paradigm for the day is we will not be owning and driving cars really soon. The reason Uber is SO serious about autonomous vehicles as they can just swap the driver car with a robot car.

Look at where the whole car thing is going. You used to buy a car then just pay to keep it going-pay for gas, insurance, repairs, etc. The new trend and it is happening now is a car becomes a subscription play. I really wanted a full auto drive car but look at the money grubbing assholsdf that now charge on ongoing fee to get some features. Every business person know the subscription business model is the holy grail. Instead of making a sale and getting money once, you chain up the sucker and charge them every single month until they die. Capitalism at its finest.


Anyway, cost of owning your own car will become unaffordable for personal use. Ah, but you can sign up for that monthy or pay as  you use fee. I do see maybe a few neighbors could buy a full self drive car and share the cost. Would need to work out scheduling conflicts but barring that who cares. Just click the app and it shows up at an adhoc or scheduled time. Jump in and it drops you off at your destination. stay tuned - its coming.

Don't want to have a car that drives its self. Lol. Sorry but I love to drive my own car. That sounds like west world or soilent green. Even Elon said we have to be careful because like DAVE in 2001 movie, he got taken over by the Computer and he says that has already happened in a few areas where the computers are learning to program their selves and won't need us around....
