Spare parts to haul with?

Thinking I should maybe have a few more parts with when on the road. I do not want to get stuck some where waiting on parts. I have rebuilt DD3s, an ECM, wiper motor with me now. Thinking a rebuild kit for the Bendix E-10? Any other repair kits or parts I should be thinking of?  Thanks Tom

A starter and a spare injector. I also carry a spare fuel pump and a few different drives.

Funnels. Sounds dumb but I learned where to add fluids on my 6V92 before my first big trip. Needed a little trani fluid and oil after 2 days of running all day. Had to go to Walmart for a way to put that stuff in the bus. You are probably waaay past that problem but maybe helps a new guy.

Never hurts to have spare air bags in the mix.  A governer for the air compressor as well.  Oh, and filters!  Carry two of each filter you might need.

It doesn't make the coach go but a fresh water pump is something I carry.

If your fuel filters are still canister type, carry some way to pull clean diesel from your tank to refill the filters after changing them on the roadside.

I carry three 5 gallon Jerry cans full of diesel. Blower drive shaft as well as a compressor coupler and at least one of every belt.

Sounds like we're stocking a NAPA! Although I carry most of what's been mentioned oh & let's not forget the needed tools and cold beer if ya drink on the job... lol

And don't forget cash. Nothing like real money when you're in the middle of nowhere and need something. Not every place or tow operator is into credit cards. Should be part of every tool box.

Pieces of straight hose for the different sizes. Esp radiator. extra hose clamps of proper sizes. Small roll of gasket paper, small ball pein hammer, Tube of permatex #1 and # 2, Permatex ultra black, razor blade sticker scraper,  small can ofPermatex high tack, pint can of lacquer thinner, tube of Shoo Goo, two rolls of paper towels, handfull of rags,box of nitrile gloves, your size. Couple of different Harbor Freight led flashlights, magnetic pickup tool, remote flex pickup tool, 2" inspection mirror, cotter pin puller, 8" bastard file, medium rat tail file, small vom, 12 volt and 24 volt test lights. Harbor Freight has a kit with 12,24, volt, and a continuity light, roll electrical tape, roll of GOOD brand duct tape. ( Gorilla Duct tape) is decent. Small assortment of nuts, bolts, washers and locks, keep a lot of this in a couple of plastic tubs from WalMart to keep them organized, and can use one to drain coolant into. Gallon of straight antifreeze, 2 gallons of diesel fuel along with two sets of fuel filters, 4 to 6 gallons of your oil, more if it is really drinking it, couple of wood blocks, 12 tonhydraulic jack, maybe a stubby one for GM's, 3/4 drive socket set, 4 foot piece of 1 1/2" pipe, 5x8 foot blue tarp. screwdrivers, pliers, filter strap wrench, dentist pliers, brass hammer, brass drift, center punch, tapered punck, cold chisel, pin punch set, pick set, razor knife, mechanics stethoscope, 5\16 to 1 5/16 combination wrench set, 4,6,10,12 inch adj. wrenches, electricians, needle nose, diagonal cutting pliers, large and small vise grips, 12" pipe wrench, super glue, pipe dope, teflon tape, mini  screwdriver set, medium prybar...
Lots of other things, but those are what I carry, off the top of my head.


For Clifford- 12 rolls of paper towels and a case of spray brake clean.🤣

Dang, 10 posts and Dan weighed too. I'm so sad nobody mentioned our favorite JB WELD, how can that be left off? I'd add some adhesive metal tape, epoxy and a bit of glass fiber cloth besides the favorite,

Seems like some are packing a parts store. My intent with onboard parts is what do I need most while on my journey, so maintenance items like an extra oil filter may be nice but you sure do not need one on a trip. Belts break, tires get flags, stuff leaks, coolant leaks. I'd bring stuff to get you rolling again to the place that can fix what's broke. Think McGyver's toolbox. lol

I never carried anything but light bulbs, fuses, electrical wire, tape, butt connecters and terminal ends with a crimper do your inspections and maintenance at home

good luck with that. Maybe fine on newer rig, but a 70's or 80's may need more from time to time. If you always have a toad, much can be eliminated unless you are a snowbird or full timer.
