Hi folks!

My wife and I are about ready to remove all of the windows on our 2000 Setra S215 HDH in order to reskin and put new windows in where we want them. Here's the glitch, though: We can't figure out for the life of us how they're meant to be removed.

They are each emergency egress windows that open from the bottom using a large red handle in the side of the frame. we have looked around the frame with the window open for hidden screws, and even tried lifting the glass out when open as I've seen done on a Van Hool. No joy on either.

I am perfectly willing to admit I missed something and slap my head if one of you fine folks can point me towards it.

We'd be grateful :-)

Attached is a photo from yesterday of the window in question, and a cross-section diagram I found of it in a binder-full parts list (but not a repair manual) that came with our Maggie.

in case you don't receive help here, most likely from few or no Vanhool owners, There is a Vanhool Facebook page that may be of help.

They might be glued on, it seems everything else is sikaflexed to death :-P

Oh, I made a mistake in the model. She's a Setra s217, not an S215.

Jamie and Patrick if you prop a window open and examine the frame carefully in the middle of the sides you will find 2 screws that come out allowing the frame to be split in half and removing the glass. I am sure that is way more time consuming and labor than needed for your purposes, but that is the only way I have ever done it on a 200 series Setra. (but I was replacing the glass, not completely doing away with it.
I will see it I can reach out to Paul Hastings who is/or was a member he will be able to let us know how it's done as he removed all of his when he was building his coach. (I bought the take outs frame and all from him to use on a coach we had with fogged glass!)

OK just got off the phone with Paul and he said "OH gosh, that was a long time ago!" (yeah especially since he hasn't been active here on BCM since 2016!)
But he said best he remembered they took ALL the trim around the windows off and the frames were glued on and they just cut the glue away and pushed out from the inside and they came out really easy. (said they removed all of them in like under 4 hrs!)
So there ya go Lee was on track!
