Hi.  New to this forum.  I am considering the possibility of purchasing an old Model 1 Eagle.  I'm sure I can get familiar with how to do PMs and some repairs, but I'm wondering about parts availability and some information on common issues with these buses.

Is it hard to get basic filters (fuel, air, oil, etc), parts for the torsilastics suspension, are there any fittings that might be peculiar to this model (can you get parts for these?).

Just not knowledgeable and looking for some someone to talk me out of this. :-)

Thanks in advance.

look over REALLY close for rust issues in all framing and suspension support, engine framing and supports, and sidewall support. Early Eagles were prone to major rust issues. newer models went to some better grade steel in critical areas. Probably one of the main reasons few  model ones are still around, although are pretty neat looking model.

Dreamscape (Paul Lawry)sp? has an 01.  Be patient.  You will get some replies.  Check out eaglesinternational.net while you are waiting, and post over there, also.

Parts for the 01 are not out there any longer, most have had air bags installed on the tag, driver and steering axles ,they never came with power steering or a automatic transmission only good thing they are easy to do a engine upgrade with all the engine room and no drop box,if you want a Eagle buy model 15 and they rust too

A model 01 Eagle would be asking for troubles beyond any rust issues. If the one you are looking at has had a lot of restoration work done and engine and transmission updates, then maybe. The torsilastic suspension on the 01 is different from all the newer ones, and changes are necessary. The lights, bumpers, and other parts are different, and only available from salvage Eagles. I would recommend a Model 10 or 15. After 1989, Model 15 Eagles had CorTen Steel framing, but I have not heard whether it continued to be used up to 1996. Some have said that they reverted back to mild steel in the last few years of manufacture. I'm not aware of any Eagles having stainless steel framing. The main thing is a thorough inspection of all components regardless of the year. There are good Eagles to be found, but there are some that are money pits that you will regret owning (that applies to other brands as well). The best source of Eagle knowledge is the Eagles International Forum. The best source of Eagle misinformation is Facebook (in my opinion).

Eagle used Cor/Ten for a few years during the NJT model 20 run then went back to regular tubing fwiw only the sub frame was Cor/Ten the rest was mild steel as before ,Cor/Ten will rust like crazy if dirt builds up on it and not washed off
