Didn't have to purchase anything. All the needed parts were sitting around the shop so we installed a back-up signal on the rear of the bus. It feeds off of the back-up light relay at the rear and is switched at the driver's seat as an option not to use it if it isn't needed. We used a car horn with a directional flasher in line so the horn will pulsate on + off if the switch is activated while the back-up lites are illuminated. A lot of us have back-up cameras to alert us so why not have an attention getter during backing up if needed!

A back up alarm is great in that it is an added safety feature. And yes it should be switchable from the driver's seat for the times when you don't want to aggravate people with the obnoxious noise, such as in a campground at 6 am. I had one in the 5C that I just disconnected because it wasn't switchable. There is one in the Country Coach that isn't switchable. I am not sure what I will do with it yet. You have to think that if you backed up over a kid, and they found that you had an alarm that was disconnected, you would be in a world of legal trouble...

JC-

I just discovered a switch on the dash of my XL that controls the back-up alarm, buried down on the panel under the radio and in among the switches for the docking lights, driver's AC, retractable entry cover, etc.  Had the bus two years now and still finding out stuff! I've had mine almost a year. Just noticed high in the engine box off to the side over the battery area, a toggle switch. Well labeled " Fuel Prime". Very cool! So when I try to change a fuel filter and lose prime.....  I'll give that toggle a wiggle or two. Will ask Prevost about it if I can get them on the phone. See if you have one.
