I am thinking about buying a portable 8000 Btu AC to use when the RV is parked in the heat to protect the cherry wood inside from the AZ heat.Has any one used 1 they only draw 6 amps and 1 roof top will run around 15 amps and up to 18 amps when it a 110 degrees here @ 15,000 btu which is double but I don't think I need 15,000 btu running 24 hours a day what do you guys think

Ditto! really curious how they work. I replaced the front rooftop with a mini-split and it would be great if one of these would keep the bedroom cool. A whole lot easier to plug one in rather than do a rooftop-minisplit swap.

I'm sure the roll around units exhaust air into the room. Some other styles have an exhaust hose to discharge elsewhere. Common sense says this style would be more efficient but you have the extra hassle of routing the exhaust through a window or small wall outlet.

I don't mind the exhaust part it would be easy with my set up,to late now I already spent the 500 bucks, it is just for parking I will remove the unit when traveling so I don't need to deal with it in the way,if it doesn't work you may have a bargain on one  8)

Clifford   My daughter and her husband has a 150 year old house that they have been redoing. Had window air but this year they bought several roll about from Lowes.

Has a hose to place out he window to exhaust the exhaust air.

Has been doing a good job during the work on the house.

They must do a decent job. Seeing more of them for sale all the time.
Read some reviews on some models. Some comments about noisy and some issues with water drain hose, sealing of exhaust hose outlet, but overall, most owners seem satisfied.

I bought a Toshiba it is doing a job I can see if you mounted one on a wall with the exhaust outside not dealing with the flex hose it would work good in a bedroom, mine is real quite on high,it surprised me in the Scottsdale heat.I have 1 15000 btu Coleman ducted heat pump that is drawing 26 amps and throwing a code shutting down the ac system so I ordered 3 new roof tops but since I live in AZ they will be cool only with condensate pumps.I don't need heat pumps with heated floors and the Aqua Hot

Yeah, some say they are quiet, some complain about the noise. Just requires some research before buying. Like window air conditioners, the higher the btu, more likely it will be noisier.
Do you have a seperate condensate hose, or does the moisture go out with exhaust?

the exhaust duct gets hot and the water catch fill up fast in a humid area, you need to send the water out with a hose to the shower, I've seen 11 and 12K btu portable unit, my boy used a 9K unit to keep one room cool when his new AC blew the fuse on that 116 day...

My daughter bought one for her bedroom as the window unit in her office window is too far away. She reports it is working ok.

Really, we want the two hose version, otherwise, the make-up air for the hot exhaust is being sucked into the space from outside the space... a significant amount of its advertised "capacity" is wasted cooling incoming hot air...

They may be selling a lot, but who amongst the population understands hvac? Price is the driver, and they sell these neatly positioned cheaper than alternatives...

Buyer beware...

A dehumidifier would be a good choice for most busnuts, for storage purposes, with the drain hose adapter run outside to the ground

Happy coaching!

No need for a dehumidifier with 6 % humidity ours is high today at 18%

Dehumidifiers add heat to your space. Not good in summer heat in a coach. Two hose may be preferable, but not a concern for many, especially as supplemental.

We have run one in our house upstairs in the summer for several years now. They seem to work fine.
