I would just stay away from Canada all together until all this Covid crap goes away. Canada is still locked down. They are only allowing US tourists to drive through to Alaska. If you deviate from your route, you WILL be arrested. So trying to be a tourist in Canada will not happen now, the police in Canada are being quite extreme. Just go somewhere else besides Canada, for now. Good Luck, TomC

Sad to hear that. Canada is really making things worse for themselves. In some ways, it sounds like having to travel thru East Germany to get to West Berlin when you were at the mercy of the East Germans to get there. I've only been to Alaska once in 2006 and it's beautiful. So I guess it's best just to fly up there for now.

You have to live in Ak.or have a legitimate job up there. Alaska forum says some work amp jobs have been rejected. Those let through have to use a specific route, no sightseeing, fuel and food only and specific number of hours to reach the northern border, which is just about straight through with much time for any stops. And they check the time when you arrive.

Can they stop for food or fuel while going through?

Yes to both but your going to wish you didn't need fuel when you see the Canadian gas/diesel prices

2016 & 2019 FL AK FL road trips we thought that anyway - for everything not just fuel or not just Canada but Alaska too. I told wifey who is very expenditure mindful that one has to get past the sticker shock asap and just enjoy the trip... We love that run - not now though, hopefully next year...

That would make an Ak.trip pretty short.

Too short for this year for sure...
For the expense & miles traveled we try to squeeze every possible day out of that trip...

We are letting you come up here, you aren't letting us come down there...

Maybe better be sure you will be allowed to return home, if you leave...

Remember, there are two borders there - the US border and the Canadian border. All that I've heard about is that the Canadian border is opening to vaccinated US tourists. Have heard nothing about the US border opening to Canadian tourists.

Actually you need to reread your history. It was not at the mercy of the East Germans it was at the mercy of the Russian's.
My wife who was stationed there saw your comment and said to tell you that....... :^

I realize that Dave and you and your lovely wife are correct. I know that East Germany was pretty much an annexation of the Soviet Union but I was just illustrating that for geographic purposes.

All of Berlin was occupied; the West by US, England and France, East Berlin was occupied by Russia.
