Golden Corral is open in Sacramento. Fried chicken still good and the senior early bird dinner price is hard to beat!

Some people may think I'm dragging the topic of subject but I would argue food is FUEL for people and yes I was serious
The closest thing to Sonic up here in Canada is dairy queen and that would be like comparing McDonalds coffee to Starbucks
and Golden Corral may not be 5 star dinning but once again there is nowhere I know of in Canada that even comes close to the incredible select that they offer

we stopped at a Sonic in Az.Second time ever stopped. Last 20 years ago. Got a milkshake. It was decent. Menu looked ok. Will stop again on our travels.
Problem with Golden Corral is same as a lot of other run down or gone businesses. Not enough reinvestment in the business. McDonalds knows this. They refurbish or replace their stores to keep them up to date.
In Florida, the snowbirds love Golden Corrals. Good price and eat something different every night. Good for kids, especially for fussy eaters. Anyone ever eat at Ponderosa? Loved their wings.

Ponderosa's headquarters used to be in Dayton within sight of my office, but they are long gone now, along with Bonanza. Golden Corral's are still strong here, they even drove out places like Ryan's Buffet. I'm getting hungry. It seems that places that offer all you can eat, and fairly good food, get eaten out of business.

We still have sonic and a golden corral, but no sizzelers in LV, but there's no place like LV for buffets,  whether cheap beige food or extravagant seafood or multi national food,  it was my dad's favorite...

Fuel 3.99 at Flying J  just west of Pokatello, I.D. Fortunately, didn't need any then.

Chessie -

Diesel is $3.27 at Costco here in Coeur d'Alene, if you're coming this way (5% bio). Walmart is $3.31 for 20% bio, and Fred Meyers is $3.32, not sure of the bio content.

(PS: Have often seen Pilot/Flying J tankers dropping fuel at WallyWorld)

Other stations here in town are about a dime more per gallon.

But cross the border into WA and you'll immediately pay a minimum of 45¢/gallon more for diesel - different tax rate.

Even tho Clifford pooh-poohs it, are you by chance using the TSD Logistics fuel discount program?

I have the card but haven't used it yet. In pickup for this trip so only fill for about 30 to 34 gallons. Truck stop pumps were 4 deep so intimidating to use it for first time. For now using gas buddy for cheapest fuel.

If you are buying fuel in AZ those cards only work at the truck pumps it will cost another 8 cents a gal above the RV pumps to began with

I also noticed a sticker at car pumps for diesel. Big trucks and semis are required to use the truck pumps in the back. Unlawful to fill up at passenger vehicle pumps. I think it was in NM or AZ. Must be more road tax at truck pumps in that state.

It's AZ you pay 1/2 the road tax on diesel for RV's and other vehicles under 26,000 pounds.Sometimes you get a clerk at a station that tries to tell you that if you have a 3 axle RV you cannot fill at the pump so you need to make him or her read the fine print RV's are exempt  it is there
