On my CC one of the units after a few hours the fan will stop and start the compressor seems to stay running ? is that a bad run capacitor it runs fine for 4 to 5 hours (114f) then starts the game playing

Sounds more like the fan capacitor  If you get up there and the fan is not going spin it and if it starts going it is the fan capacitor :^ if not then its the run.
Also it might be icing up if the condenser is dirty. I turn the fan on for a little while and it thaws them out then back on and it is fine. I have to get up there and clean the condensers.

Our back one just started only working on High  but if you put it on Low it just buzzes and that's on cool or fan but high works fine. And that's a run cap.

At those high of ambient temperatures it also could be caused by an internal fan motor thermal protection device.

I found out from Coleman that is normal for the heat pump 15.000 btu it has a automatic cycle to prevent freeze ups in the AC mode.I don't care for that feature at all

To prevent freezups, you would want the compressor to shut off for a short time to defrost the coils.
Cliff, do you have it on high with the fan running all the time? The evaporator fan couldn't be off long or the compressor will overheat and kick out.
If your either capacitor is suspect get them both. They aren't  that expensive. I would first do a voltage check at the fan motor. Could be the circuit board.

The tech told me that wasn't the compressor running I heard something to do with auto cool on the compressor, it is just annoying to me, the unit cools great I am just running 1 unit out of 3 to keep the heat down inside the RV

Boy they just don't make anything like the older units. I have 3-13,500 Mach III Colemans on my bus that I installed in 1994 and have had zero problems with them. They are used much during summer even when sitting. It's just too bad everything gets cheapened up. Good Luck, TomC

At the time we replaced a roof top A/C on the bus and on a Hallmark Auto Hauler trailer we used to pull - we went with the Dometic's Brisk Air HE. At the time we wanted something that could cool the rigs with the lowest load possible. After many years they are trouble free, we regularly clean & maintain them but since upgrading with solar & inverter power, we are amazed at how good the 13,500 btu units cool at a load of less than 9A on the compressor & 2A on the fan motor. We paid +/- $600 todays prices are hugging $1000. Time marches on... Aside from Dometic's smaller 11000btu unit the 13,500btu HE units only need a 2500W genny to run it and the 2800W Magnum runs it w/o issue. We are considering swapping our tiny spare 800W genny for the Westinghouse iGen 2500W for economical running of the roof top instead of the main 6500W Onan.

To bad Carrier left the RV roof top game those were some great AC units ,i installed a Penguin ll on the Trek worst piece of crap ever made ,the old Penguin's would cool and ran for years. There is nothing wrong with the Coleman units on my rv they will cool it's the automatic cool for 3 units on 1 thermostat that does a number on me if I screw up then I have to reboot the dumb thing lol and it happens

Coleman sells a rugged duty version. Heavier tubing and components.

I've got three old Carrier's and three original Penguin's from the nineties, and they all cool just fine. I guess I will be finding out how long they can last. I live in fear of the day I will need new replacements.  :o

Yeah but with three you don't have to worry about going down totally just one at a time...
We've always cleaned & maintained our A/Cs and looking back they last a long time...
The nicest thing about newer units is how efficient they run - newer gennys too!

I like the Carriers they use condensation water to cool the coil and you don't have water dripping all the time. The only problem the older Penguins had was the bracket supports for the motor would break and the fan would drop down destroying the coil. If you catch that before it happens they last for ever,FWIW they made a updated kit to prevent that before the made the POS Penguin ll.
We have friends that have the M/B class B van with a Quite Air unit on top it is about 5 years old and stop working, believe it not that friggin unit cost over $2500.00 for a roof top AC lol it would have been replaced with a Coleman if I owned it, then I would have never paid $200k for a van conversion either

Sounds like a trip to a wrecking yard to look for older a/c units might be a good idea.

I have a guy 2 old Colemans from a Rv we bought new in 1984 he freed the fans up from no use in 20 years they are still going,he did install new covers on the top
