Chessie
Too bad you didn't continue to do it. I have run it since 2006 with great results. I did break the input shaft in the middle of the Canada/USA bridge and shut down the border for 20 minutes. When I removed the trans I saw what caused it and redid the shaft so as to not happen again. I am running a 6V92TA with 1000 ft lbs of torque so I work it. Well worth tracking down a VS2-6 for the gear set.

chessie4905

I will after I find a VS2-6 doner.

LOL sure glad you guys found something a VS was good for lol I don't think oil people even make a fluid for that anymore  :^
Life is short drink the good wine first

Bill Gerrie

This is what I did with one. No oil needed luvrbus just the trans oil.

olebusman

Yep, well worth doing. If that is all that was stopping me from completing it I would do a road trip to get the parts. They work good. I think Teal was a genius.

My friend in MI called your cell phone and left a message for you to call him with your address or email so I can get you the manual if you still need it.

I wonder if GM had that idea in mind when they designed the v730. The VS2's had a appliable overdrive. The 730 has those blank bosses in the bell housing... Why are they there? All that dead space in bell housing. Wonder if GM had an idea to incorporate the overdrive into it, but dropped the idea as not needed or whatever.

You might have something there Chessie. It really is a shame they never did it. The bosses for the bolts to hold the plate line up perfectly with the VS2 retainer fitted in the body of the V730.

olebusman

Yea, but the retainer has to be machined to work.

chessie4905

Yes but still curious. Love to find an old Allison engineer familiar in designing that.
