I just relooked at the tag on the trans and somebody has switched the valve body to the electric version to make it a V731. Now you are putting it back to the original V730 trans. Easy to do without any problems.

yep he has a V731 not a V730 ,Bill he may run into a problem changing the valve body from a transmission that wasn't working the valve body could have been the problem with the other transmission and I have no idea if he tested the pressures or not

Thank you Bill, this is great info for me.

also, since you have a stone bennet shifter, it could possibly be the origonal problem.

I would assume you did some testing for pressures etc before you condemn the original trans. Around here nobody can test a V730 anymore. They have gotten rid of the adapters for a V730. The only way to see is install and test with a gauge at the appropriate port. I hope you have the V730 manual if not maybe Ebay has one.

Does anyone know of a person close to Hawthorne Florida, that knows this transmission? DDA in Ocala does not have the ability to dyno or mess with shift points. Or maybe someone who I can explain everything that has happened too?

Good Morning All, does anyone have a rebuilt Allison v730 for sale? The one on eBay for $3350 is not available. The one on eBay for $1900 just looks scary. I am in Hawthorne Florida. I have three transmissions lined up side by side. Is there anyone or does anybody know anyone, who is knowledgeable, that would actually come here and make one out of three? Yes I know I am reaching.

Have your transmission rebuilt by Allison-not cheap, but then you know what's in the transmission. I turbocharged by 8V-71 so it puts out (with 7G75 injectors) 375hp and 1125lb/ft torque. United Transmissions (unfortunately not in business anymore) rebuilt it with that in mind and the trans takes the power easily. Keep in mind that the V730 is just a HT740 without 1st gear-using the same gears and clutches, plus with reverser gear. VERY dependable transmission. Good Luck, TomC
