Old news perhaps but the end of a long era just the same. I could see VAN-HOOL and MCI offering PACCAR as an alternative to CUMMINS at some point but time and the push toward EV's will tell.

Why would an engine manufacturer restrict sales of the same engine, to only a part of the fleets that buy their engines?

From DAIMLER's perspective, why help the competition even if it means less engine sales.

As with most corporate decisions, it's almost certainly just a matter of profitability.  If I'm not mistaken Detroit Diesel has a comparatively small market share in the modern motorcoach market, they may just be shifting resources to focus on fleet operations.

It was a corporate business related decision- most likely the volumes and effort adapting for the application didn't warrant the return on investment. Also, I don't know how much shelf life the DD13 has now. The DD15 and 16 are outstanding engines. I don't know the DD13 but imagine it's just as dependable
