What is acceptable oil pressure hot at idle for an 8-V92 450 hp with 150,000 miles?

10 to 15 lbs is normal,I have seen 5 lbs but it was on it's way out,150,000 miles with low oil pressure the engine is due new mains and rod bearings.A 8v92 will wear the rear main Detroit should have made those wider and not used the same bearings as 8v71,not to start a pissing contest but what oil does he use ? they have more oil pressure using Delvac 1240 than with Delo or Shell

On old tired engines (even though an 8V92 with only 150K miles shouldn't be old and tired), why not use straight 50-weight oil, or even a half-half blend with 40-weight (to make a 45-weight?).   It's not going to replace the inevitable rebuild, but should minimize chances of other collateral damage before the eventual teardown.   I know that 50-weight is like treacle in cold weather, but for us sunny-state folk what's the downside?

Yup, the Harley Davidson crowd are all running 50wt, or should be...

A busnut usually has engine heating facility, owns the coach, and will have the discipline to follow cold start procedures...

Using 50w here in Az is common per DD specs for temperatures over 100 degrees the stuff is hard to find without ordering it they no longer offer Delvac 1250

They more than likely used multi weight oil.

I'm pretty sure they used 40 weight, plus it is clearly specified on panel right inside engine compartment when you open the doors. He is going to roll in new bearings, since pan is easy to remove, and it is due for an oil change.
