Has anyone noticed the new Thumbs Up icon :^ on the Forum?  This is like the Facebook "Like" option.  There have been many times where I liked what someone said and wanted to show my support without taking the time to "Reply" to a thread.  So I had Krash add this as an option.

Do you Like  :^ this new option?

Any comments about this?

No, I don't "like" it. I don't like too much about Facebook, especially how it has weakened forums like this one. Facebook is superficial and full of misinformation, quite the opposite of BCM.  :(

^ This. :P  Never been there, so am unfamiliar with this feature, but looks like BCM members are using it, so we'll give it a run.

Only trouble is no thumbs up is same as thumbs down. Bring back the ignore button.lol

I guess I don't like the idea.  It brings the concept of judgement into posting.  Someone's post should just be judgement-free without inviting community evaluation.  Further, it places some pressure on others to give a thumbs-up just to make the poster feel appreciated.  Thus, we get "thumbs-up inflation", which makes the whole process totally meaningless.

I will not use it, so please do not feel slighted.

The thumbs up looked ok in a time full of downers. Always - not so much. We don't do Facebook...

I noticed that if you click on the "one person liked this" it reveals who did it, so it is not anonymous. Lin's comments are spot on, we should not be judgmental. I think it is sufficient to reply to postings with fair comments. A simple thumbs up (or not) is simplistic, and Facebookish.

I see it on other forums. The only time I use it is when I particularly like a comment, but on this thread I liked a negative comment but since I'm neutral about it's use I clicked on a like to zero out the tally.

Long as you don't take it too seriously I think it's fine. I don't expect to see likes on my postings.

I saw it on the Internet. It MUST be true...

FaceBook is not all that bad if you don't post to much info about yourself Goggle is the one I don't like and MS

I don't mind it but nobody is under obligation to use those features. I'm on TWITTER and it does come in handy at times.

My feel is that the icon is too bloody big and garish. Does it change to something else when someone has liked a post?

Agree with Lin. We don't do fakebook and tweety either. To many people judging others these days on things they know nothing about. Just another way to pound their chests believe they are more important by putting down others or name calling etc.  :)

A little strange that we can tell who has "liked" a post.

And "3 people liked this" falls really close to Facebook...

But hey, whatever Gary wants, it's not like it really intrudes on the forum.

One reason I don't watch You Tube. Politics can get nasty on FaceBook and bus nuts are right in the thick of it ,but it is easy to stop you just block it and it never shows up
